We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis LeRoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started playing bass when I was 13. Over the next several years I performed in a variety of original bands, and was a bass instructor. In my late 20’s, I contemplated “retiring” from music, but in my heart I knew I did not want to stop. That is when I first had the idea to form a band that focuses on 80’s music. I grew up during the 80’s and that music resonated with me. It would be a few years later before I pursued the idea further. When I launched the project, I was very focused on making it successful, but I never imagined it would grow to the level it is at today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Even though I play every concert with the band, I spend way more time running the business than I do actually performing.  I wear a lot of different hats. A typical week for me consists of answering emails, working out details for upcoming shows, running our social media, maintaining equipment, and writing set lists.  I do all the videos and studio work for the band, but I also do less glamorous things like accounting and driving our equipment truck.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are based near Denver, CO. There are many great spots to visit, but I’m probably not the best one ask about that. We play so often that I don’t have lots of time to just hang out. However, we get to perform at some amazing places. From the tops of mountains, to hidden locations under the city, we have seen some cool things!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My fellow band members Mick, Kevin, Amy and Martha deserve a ton of credit. I am so thankful to work with such a talented, smart and dedicated group of musicians. They are also very nice people.
