We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler “The Red Tie Guy” West and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler “The Red Tie Guy”, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Promoting the haunts and their amazing crews who bring it to life. Promoting and uniting amazing haunters from all over the world who are in this industry for the right reasons. A huge portion of our success is how we conduct business in a professional manner when at haunts or public events. Our official articles are done by industry experienced individuals who are able to do the job in a professional manner each and every visit. The success behind Scurryface to this very day is professional, positive work ethic and the unity that it brings to the table for individuals. Scurryface as of now has 246 Reps around the world. Each Rep brings something amazing and unique to the table and they are making a positive difference in their respective communities. That’s what separates the Scurryface brand from literally everyone else out there. We’re physically making a positive difference in people’s lives vs just talking about it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am constantly staying busy when it comes to Scurryface. Whether it be designing logo’s, graphic designs and updates to the website, video editing for haunts and our reps, our huge ScareActor Spectacular contest that we put on every year. Promoting the haunts and events that we’re booked at throughout the summer and Fall. Even able to stay busy doing our gaming streams via twitch playing Rock Band, Rocket League and Dead By Daylight with Reps for the entertainment of the fans. In which our Rock Band streams have fortunately turned into a paying gig for us. I am very fortunate and grateful to have turned a hobby into a full-time job year-round job.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Scurryface is spread throughout the world with our Reps. I could easily get some of the reps to answer this question. I could use these Reps cities for example; OKC, Oklahoma -Greensboro, North Carolina – Roanoke, Virginia – Houston, Texas – Pensacola, Florida – Colorado Springs, Colorado – Salt Lake City, Utah – Omaha, Nebraska – Sidney, Iowa – Chicago, Illinois – St. Louis, Missouri – Los Angeles, California – Edinburgh, Scotland – Verona, Italy – Tokyo, Japan
But if someone came to my home town or home state. I would make sure it was during haunt season and I would take them on a little Bama haunt tour. First, I’m taking them to Nightmare at 3008 in Fultondale where we’d also have dinner and drinks and possibly enjoy some live music at Mad Pies.
Then I’m taking them 2 hours north to Killen to visit Arx Mortis followed by Doomsday in Athens. We’d close it out by visiting Atrox Factory in Leeds, The Terrortorium in Oxford, Haunted Chicken House in Heflin, City Of Chaos in Estaboga and finally PV Slaughterhouse in Rainsville. Those are some of the absolute best haunts in the State hands down. I know that for a fact because SF visits up to 30 haunts in the state per season.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to the thank the Scurryface Rep Family. Their support, loyalty and dedication truly mean’s the world to me! Every haunt claim’s to be “Family” and most have a great group of individuals, but Scurryface is truly the definition of “haunt family”.. We are there for each other 24/7 throughout the year. I and on the behalf of the SF family, I want to thank the supporters and fans. Without them constantly coming to the website and our social media platforms to support what we do; we wouldn’t be where we are at today.
I want to shout out the haunts and organizations who have believed in us since day one. Your support means so much to me and SF. You know who you are!! Thank you!
