Meet Chikeeh Talker | Owner | Wedding Planner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chikeeh Talker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chikeeh, what do you attribute your success to?
Finding who you are in the Industry, truly loving and caring for what you do! For me I want to create an Experience for my couples and a connection. Just like clients choose me, learn about me and ask me questions. I do the same It has to be a harmonious decision. Ive always loved creating an experience. Whether that’s been for a guest when I worked in Hotels, or a Good Friend visiting me wanting a Unique night out. I find the creative and Artsy aspects in weddings so thrilling to create. Each couple is very unique and has a vision that I get to sit down, design and curate. When the event comes around seeing it all come together is so Exciting and Fulfilling!
Giving yourself some grace to make mistakes. Know that not every client is going to absolutely love you and communication mishaps happen. So don’t dwell on clients lost, or when you can’t please someone 100%. It happens, in life and especially business. Clients and the majority will look at you and expect perfection, but its not reality. So trying to be easier on yourself. Doing the best for your clients and sticking to morals on business practices.
Branding cohesively and staying consistent. This includes how you are in public. I’m always ready to meet with a client, putting my best self forward and representing my brand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From the beginning I have been in hospitality jobs. A simple bar job to every job you can have in a restaurant, to hotels, sales and then events. My background has been built on others experience and striving to find a unique way for them to leave wherever I may be saying “wow, that was amazing”. Ive strived for that the majority of my career that lead me to opening my business. I remember the 1st events I was involved in, I left with a “high” some would say. I knew immediately that this was the industry for me. Yes, there were a lot of doubts. To be honest I would be lying if I said i still don’t. Im proud to have made the leap, the decision, and the trust in myself to start a career I love! As a woman owned, small business. Its been very empowering to network with others, and really find myself within this career. I am very excited to keep growing and learning with the wedding industry. Creating more gorgeous weddings, striving to better my customer service and work towards more features to get my talent out there. I met David Tutera once in Vegas. I was overwhelmed to say the least. Meeting the Celeb wedding planner and thinking to myself….”one day, one day ill be featured like he is.” Shooting for the best, being the best I can be. Affirmations can seem silly at times, but for me I feel like its a state of mind. I have recently been Featured in Rocky Mountain Bride, The Knot and Wedding Wire, As well as Wining Best of Weddings for 2022. Weddings are such an important day in your life, being able to create the Best Day Ever over and over again is truly amazing and I don’t Intend on stoppng anytime soon!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to thank my close friends who I leaned on when thinking of leaving the comfort of a Corporate company to begin something I could only have dreamt of! Cody, Pam & Salina. My Partner, Troy for leaping with me. Supporting me through the horrors of Covid, moving to a new state and dealing with my late nights and weekends.
