Meet leslie resnick | Realtor / Professional Skier/ Mtn Bike Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with leslie resnick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi leslie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I was like a puppy trying to chase moths when I first started selling real estate 30+ years ago. I had no direction and spent my time trying everything to see what would stick. I worked 7 days a week and was always available at a moments notice.
I still work 7 days a week. I start at 4:30 in the morning when I get up (I have woken up at this time going on 17 years, I decided it is just my time to wake up) and gets heaps of work done with no interuptions. I don’t answer the phone till 8am.
The biggest difference is I now take 9 till 11 or 12 off before i go back to work.
I ski, I bike, I live the good life we have offered to us living in ColoRADo!
I love what I do. It is 7:46 at night and I am still working. I try to stop at 8pm.
I know that I put the work in to offer my clients the best services possible. I also know that I am my best if I take a few hours off to enjoy the activities that surround me!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brain works differently from others. People talk about herding cats and putting their ducks in a row.
That is child’s play.
I herd butterflies. They are moving on different plains. My brain is able to see the process and how it might play out and help my clients strategize as to their next action.
I am a coach. In real life I coach a high school mountain bike team. My high school! I missed my 40th reunion because I am hanging with the kids still and my classmates are, well… old.
I can’t take the action on behalf of my clients without their deciding what action to take. I help them strategize to get to the decision as to how they wish to proceed. I feel as awesome when I watch my kids cross the finish line at a race as I do when I see the house keys pass to or from my clients. #Winning!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was an ambassador to Japan for the Colorado Ski Industry. I love Colorado!!! My passion is to listen to what people enjoy and match them to the corresponding mountain town!
If food was an important item we would drive over Independence Pass (the views!!!) into Aspen and eat at Meat + Cheese. Mountain biking, horseback riding maybe fly fishing if that is their thing. Drive into Marble for a hike the next day and some BBQ for lunch. Over the pass and into Hotchkiss to Big B’s for some music and fresh fruit then backtrack to Kebler Pass and drive into Crested Butte.
More biking, hiking, fishing but taking time to sit on the benches on Elk Ave and just take in the funkiness of the town. Dinner? Lines, lack of staff and no favorite places these days, I would go to Frank’s Deli and get a heap of food and go picnic at a park.
Head south to Jacks Cabin Cutoff and look for elk and deer as we head to the rock climbers parking lot at Harmels and ride Doctor Park, one of Colorado’s best mountain bike trails! Food at the Almont Cafe is supposed to be great, but I think I would head east to CottonWood Pass and drive into Buena Vista.
BV has amazing opportunities as well!! Great single track trails to ride mtn bikes, a river to float, SUP, kayak, fish of just jump into (and out, it can get cold!). Walk a few blocks to Sweeties Sandwich Shop and then take them to the park to chill and eat.
I could do this non stop. Food, activities, sightseeing. You name it. I know realtors in all the towns and have no problem calling them for ideas.
Let’s go!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I flew to NYC 2 days ago to spend the day with my mentor. He is a 95 year old survivor of the concentration camps that became hugely successful in life. Not just the millions in the bank, but he skied all over the world, took safaris, slept in castles and lives life to the fullest.
We would sit at his kitchen table looking over Central Park and ask me, “What is your pilot light? What is the thing that you wake up excited to participate in every day?”
I learned about real estate from him and his wife. I rehabed a house in the country for them (taking a chauffeured car to get to work!) I realized I was passionate about helping people to buy and sell properties. I had never missed a party in Denver during high school, so I knew all the neighborhoods!
