We had the good fortune of connecting with Pau Szlufman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pau, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Many things bring me joy and make me happy, but the main thing that comes to mind is traveling. Exploring new countries and learning about different cultures is such a unique and eye-opening experience. When traveling, you notice certain customs outside of your own that really make you examine and compare your day-to-day life with that of others in a healthy way. When I’m stressed about about work or feel like all my free time is consumed by errands, I like to have an upcoming trip to look forward to. I know that when I return home I’ll be refreshed and ready to take on whatever life throws my way. Deviating from my everyday routine (and the stress that comes with it) to hike a mountain or tour an ancient palace is a priceless feeling. Some of my happiest memories and best stories come from time spent abroad discovering the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved creating and editing videos. While I was studying film in college, I began putting together clips I had taken throughout my adventures. I posted some on Facebook during the start of the pandemic and absolutely loved the feedback I was getting, but never thought much of it. I have always posted pictures and uploaded stories of my trips to my instagram page sporadically. It wasn’t until Instagram reels became popular that I started creating travel content more regularly. I had two big back-to-back trips in March and April of this year and posted the usual pictures. However, I also created a reel for each country I visited. After those 3 reels went up, my friends and followers kept making comments calling me a “traveler” or “travel queen” and I fell in love with the idea of sharing this part of my life and joining the online travel community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a visitor in Miami and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would take them shopping, dining, drinking, tanning and exploring at all of my favorite spots.

Shopping
There’s so much shopping to be done in Miami, but my personal favorite spots are the Aventura Mall and 260 Sample Sale Miami. The Aventura Mall has all of the name-brand stores you could ever wish for in one location, a shopaholic’s dream come true. 260 Sample Sale Miami is a must for huge discounts on your favorite brands so make sure to leave room in your suitcase for your new purchases!

Dining
There are so many amazing restaurants in Miami that one week is not enough to even cover a portion of them, but some of my top choices are Orange Blossom, Drunken Dragon and Casa Tua.

Drinking
Post-dinner drinks at Lagniappe are always a good idea if we’re looking for a chill and cozy wine night. If we’re in the mood for a more upbeat night out filled with dancing, playing games and topping the night off with a midnight snack, then The Wharf Miami is the place to be.

Tanning
No Miami trip would be complete without hitting the beach. South Beach is an absolute must for getting your tan on and snapping that instagram-worthy pic by the uniquely colorful lifeguard huts. For a more adventurous beach day, I’d take my guests on a day trip to Naples to watch sunset over the white sand and crystal clear water.

Exploring
A classic Miami itinerary includes a visit to the Wynwood Art District. Wynwood itself has graffiti all over the streets making it a perfect place for a picturesque stroll. After a quick stop at the iconic Wynwood Walls for street art and mural photo-ops, we would explore the neighborhood’s restaurants, art galleries and installations, and retail shops.

The Design District is like the Rodeo Drive of Miami – walking around this area you’ll see clothing stores like Chanel and Balenciaga. You’ll also come across great restaurants, upscale showrooms and fashionable locals roaming around the beautiful area.

Brickell’s luxury buildings overlooking the bay, rooftop bars, waterfront dining, and the Bickell City Centre shopping mall make Brickell both the perfect tourist attraction and a local hotspot.

There is so much to do here in Miami, where new attractions are constantly popping up. Visiting these notable spots is a great way to get a feel of the vibrant coastal city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my parents for not only instilling a passion for travel within me from an early age, but for also supporting me in pursuing this passion of mine. Before settling down and having children, they spent 8 years traveling the world together. It didn’t take long for the new parents to catch the travel bug again. At just 8 months old they took me on my very first trip to the U.S. and Panama. A short year later, we visited Brazil as a family of four with my baby sister. At 4 years old, my international travels took a whole new turn when we moved to the U.S. from Argentina. My parents have always valued discovering the world and those values have definitely been passed down to me. I feel so lucky to have had travel as an integral part of my upbringing, which is all attributed to my amazing parents. Their constant encouragement to visit new places has truly shaped me into the woman and traveler I am today.
