We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my sleep coaching business happened at the intersection of needing to solve my own problem and wanting to start a business where I can provide life-changing benefits to many people.

I struggled with sleep challenges on and off for around 15 years. During that period, I tried prescription sleeping pills, experimented with various sleep aids, worried about sleep during my days, and made many other efforts that worsened the situation. In early 2018, I finally reached a point where I needed to find a natural, sustainable solution.

My online research turned up a few sleep coach certification programs, and I decided to invest in myself and enroll. The education gradually showed me all of the mistakes I had been making over the years. It guided me toward healthier behaviors, more positive ways of thinking about sleep, and other valuable knowledge that helped me reach a place where I sleep normally and feel great during my days. I’ve since gained three more certifications and coached people across the U.S. and worldwide, which has been an amazing journey.

Since becoming a sleep coach, my constant goal has been to make sleep feel easier for my clients so they can enjoy their nights more, stress less about sleep, and navigate their days with more energy and better moods.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My sleep coaching business is called Sleepably. We offer adult and pediatric sleep coaching, an adult online sleep program, and corporate wellness presentations and workshops about sleep.

We’re excited about providing personalized coaching. Everyone has different lifestyles, schedules, routines, stresses, and more, so we’re not trying to provide a one-size-fits-all approach. We take the time to get to know each client and discover their specific challenges so we can create a roadmap to help them focus on smart steps that will lead to impactful, sustainable changes.

Our journey to get where we are today has been filled with the usual ups and downs of entrepreneurship. One of the biggest challenges has been creating awareness that sleep coaches exist, and educating about what we do. People are very aware of sleep medications and sleep products because they’re all over the media and advertisements, but at this time, sleep coaching is still a little-known option. The only way to change this is to continue educating people about why sleep coaching is so effective at helping people sleep better compared to medications and the various fads out there.

If you’re struggling with sleep or your child could use some help, you don’t need to overwhelm yourself while trying every piece of advice from friends, family, and strangers on the internet. You have a sleep coach ready to help you cut through the noise and focus only on the things that will make a difference for you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to some of my favorite spots in the Denver area. We’d go to Snooze for a hearty morning meal filled with sweet and savory breakfast foods. For lunch, we would go to Patzcuaro’s in the Highlands area, where we would enjoy the delicious Mexican cuisine. Dinner would consist of either a casual night in with food provided by Chook, or a night on the town with dinner and drinks at Sushi Den.

Our time together would also include drinks at Attimo Wine downtown, a concert at Red Rocks, and a run at Wash Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Rebecca Schlegel deserves a lot of credit for supporting my vision of creating a sleep coaching business. She even became a pediatric sleep consultant with our good friend Sara Nudd so that we could also help parents who want better sleep for their children. Having Rebecca there through the roller coaster ride that is entrepreneurship is something to be grateful for!

Along with that, Sara has also been a fantastic teammate and continues to earn rave reviews from the parents she helps. I could use several more Saras on my team.
