We had the good fortune of connecting with Tenisha Sanderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tenisha, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from California and visit often with family still being there. I became a military brat at 10, living overseas and several states. Eventually, graduating in Georgia and ended up working in insurance right away. Initially processing medical claims, to personal lines insurance within six months. Working my way up from customer service rep to insurance producer running the number one office within the company I worked for. Therefore, after years of being in the insurance industry and working in several positions, I decided to open my own company.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After years of being in the insurance industry it was finally time to just do my own thing. I started Sanderson Insurance Group with a vision to be there for my clients from the beginning to the end, protecting them just like I would my own family. This was not something other companies I’ve work for wanted any staff member to do. I’ve been treated poorly, paid poorly, co-workers treated poorly, lied to, and agents lying to make a sale. I wanted to change this pattern with Sanderson Insurance Group. We really get to know our clients’ and they get to us, no salesperson here. We understand each client’s situation and needs because we actually care and everyone needs help sometimes. I am personally excited to be able to take care of my clients, my way, by treating people the way I want to be treated.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had my best friend come to Colorado to visit, some of the things that would be included:
1. Walk around Manitou Springs, Colorado
2.Take a drive up to Pikes Peak
3. Grab pizza from Slice 420 in Colorado Springs
4. See a comedy show at Loonees Comedy Center in Colorado Springs
5. Tour Garden of the Gods
6. Drive up to Denver to the 16th Street Mall
7. Walk around and maybe eat at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs
8.Check out the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs
9. Pick up desserts randomly throughout the week from my favorite spots in Colorado Springs, Schnitzel Fritz, Decadent, and Boonzaaijer’s Dutch Bakery

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I want to thank my family for all the continuous support. To my awesome lenders, you know who you are, my angels. I could have never made it my first year without you. To my clients, thank you for putting your trust in me to protect your assets appropriately. Growing with me, and being the great clients, you are. I’ve been blessed to be able to work with such wonderful, kind, and caring people, and look forward to many more years!

I have to give a shoutout to Food Trucks Against Homelessness in Colorado Springs, which provide hot meals to the homeless every week. This is done by just community donations, so please help if you can! Hope Advanced Colorado Springs, helping others to get on their feet.
