We had the good fortune of connecting with Da’wan Gold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Da’wan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Although art can be often complicated it’s also a place of freedom and relaxation and with that you get to express yourself as openly as possible.

I felt music & art allowed me to express myself, as a solider I’m told to take orders drive on and get the mission done. Art allowed me to finally make my own choices. Be accountable for my own actions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m Da’wan Gold, an emerging international artist. Music has always been a passion. A coping mechanism to deal with the stuff after Iraq. My music is for everyone who can relate to being in a bad headspace, mentally and spiritually. The road wasn’t easy but definitely worth it to see it pay off. Many nights I spent alone. First not knowing how I would make it from war then not knowing how I would make it in the music business. I opened my company 2018 DNA Productions NY LLc. With a focus in music & film production. As a Combat Veteran I use my limited funds to invest in my music. Traveling putting on shows and meeting people personally to connect the face with my brand. I have a manager who is a big help. Supporting since day one. Tee is def my right hand.

We overcame adversity by continuing to write, create & work on our passion everyday until we often fell asleep. No days off & I’m so thankful for you allowing me to do this interview.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly I’ve been living abroad in Tel Aviv Israel for the last 6months working on my Fourth Album with Gon. I’ve been really into the Israeli foods & dishes that are also made with love. Real hummus eggs salads, eggplant lasagna SHAKSHUKA was my fav. I encourage everyone to travel abroad and try other culture foods and experience there hospitality.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
