We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Pinsker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I was a schoolteacher for over a decade. I love the pastoral part of teaching; inspiring others, and working with young people and in particular mentoring and guiding young women. I still mentor college interns.

Later I became a writer because after living in Japan as a teacher in the JET Program. I would share my stories with my friends and family and they told me that my emails transported them to the rice fields of Saitama-ken and the bright lights of Tokyo with me.

This made me realize that I wanted to share my writings with a larger audience because of the impact it could have on others, especially in making them feel less alone.

I remember declaring after college that it was time to output instead of input, and I remain a creator, not a consumer, to this day.

I had so many stories to share while working as a teacher in New York City, I luckily met my mentor and she taught me everything I know about publishing my work and I worked at top-magazines as a writer, editor, and on-air commentator.

I am obsessed with the healing power of writing, that is turning the worst thing that ever happened to you to the best. The alchemy of the personal essay and believe that after the completing craft of writing it is crucial to have an audient to complete the process.

I discovered the other power of the press when I started writing service pieces and my sources told me that their business doubled, and there was now a line around the block.

So, I created Girl Gone Global Communication with the tagline “Share Your Story with the World” to help people share their own stories and that of their businesses via P.R. Before that, I combined my love of travel, and living in five other countries (India, Japan, France, Switzerland, Ukraine) as a teacher, or student with writing and became a travel and food writer!

As an agented model in New York City since 2015, it naturally lends to influencing. I am still a travel influencer and I finally have a blog: girlgoneglobal.co, please check it out and tell me what you think.

I prefer blogging and influencing over journalism, because I have complete editorial control over my content and can always guarantee coverage.

I love being a publicist because I am obsessed with the positive power of words and the power of the pen and I feel like I have been doing this since 2007 and can literally get anyone published. I still infuse inspiration and teaching because PR coaching is close to life coaching and as a self-development junkie and mentor, I love to share my secrets to success, which is 50% mindset in my opinion.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After being a journalist since 2007, I made us official in 2022 as a PR Firm, and verified in 2023. Because I have such a deep understanding of what editors need, having been one for Condé Nast, BUST Magazine, Time Out New York and more I know what journalists want.

As a writer, I have a vast network, and publicists pitch writers, so the cycle is harmonic. I can help businesses get published because I have an insider view of what editors and writers need and exactly how to pitch and I still write and create content about travel, wellness and lifestyle.

I overcame tremendous struggles and my biggest lesson is NEGU (never, ever give up) that was reinforced to me when I met the Dalai Lama in India. We love to give back through mentorship and working with women to help them get to the same place I did.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Boulder is an idyllic little bubble of nature and culture with a European quality of life, and actually has some world-class cuisine. I love the tech scene here and the fact it’s almost as International as New York City or San Francisco. It’s pretty sophisticated for a small town! I prefer my Boulder bubble to Denver even though I am from Brooklyn but we can go to Denver for shopping, Opera, Classical music and nightlife. I love Nocturne for Jazz and the variety of James Beard award winners that we have. We would have dinner at Flagstaff House for the 6000 feet view, cocktails and fine dining. The next day we could start with hiking Sanitas Mountain, maybe have lunch and drinks outside the Boulderado to people watch or at License No. 1, then happy hour at The Brasserie Ten Ten, my favorite and dinner at Steakhouse 316, the best in town. We’d also just walk on Pearl and check out all the shops. I like to horseback ride with my teacher, Blue, in Golden at the White Ranch Open Space. We can ride bikes along the front range, which is literally right outside our home in beautiful Boulder for a few miles or all the way to Longmont or Golden. And, if they are a hard-core athlete, they can hike 14ers nearby.
