We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Sage and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Through my visual art I aim to inspire a deeper connection to ourselves, each other and the world at large. Through my wearable art, one embodies transcendental imagery becoming a super hero version of themselves! I also cultivate community through teaching painting and inviting my students to join me in creating work that is healing, not just for those that view it, but for those creating it. We gather and create together on the Non-Stop Vision Train Global Art Jam which is an international creative space station on Zoom that has been running 24/7 since March 24th, 2020. It is a supportive virtual art studio with a variety of offerings hosted by Conductors and a global community committed to creating art that can evoke social change.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art comes from the desire to explore the depths of consciousness through the visual language while being guided by the image coming into form. I am ever more inspired to create art that inspires transformation towards a more harmonious existence between humans and nature. My journey has been blessed and full with little to no boundary between personal life and work… By going to Vienna, Austria to study painting with Michael Fuchs when I was 19, then staying on to work as an assistant to his famous father Ernst Fuchs for 10 years, I was thrown into the world of professional art, given no other choice, because of my visa, but to give it my best shot. I was gifted in portraiture and found many avenues to express and explore my own path while supporting one of the greatest painters of the 20th century during very formative years. I have learned that by being flexible, curious and authentic opportunities were endless, and by following through with my commitments, I would always be invited back. I am grateful for the collectors and fans of my work and know that it is the greater vision that I transmit that continues to inspire an ever evolving storyline where we each play a crucial role. At the core of every seed in my work is a prayer that holds a knowing that reverberates through each brushstroke, blowing the whistle of the Peace Train, calling us to action to become active creators of the blooming regenerative renaissance. It is so much bigger than a painting or a piece of clothing, it is a story that we as co-creators are writing together, of a world we know in our hearts is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well… Being born in Denver, I’ve never actually lived there! I grew up in Boulder and since finishing high school I have lived mostly abroad. I have had a studio in downtown Los Angeles since 2010 and have returned to Colorado, integrating into the Gunnison/Crested Butte community since 2016.

If we were to just focus on the Denver area, I would definitely take my friend to eat at City o’ City then go for a drink at Union Station. We would visit the Denver Botanical Gardens, the Denver Art Museum and the new Kirkland Museum (I have a few pieces in their permanent collection of contemporary Colorado surrealists!) I would also take them to Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station, which is one of the most epic adventures to get lost in. I don’t have any work in the Denver Meow Wolf but I did contribute to the Las Vegas Omega Mart exhibition for a massive collaborative project with colleagues Alex Grey & Allyson Grey, Android Jones (fellow Colorado artist and long time friend) and more. We would also visit Threyda Gallery, Mirus Gallery and I would also take my friend to the mountains, no matter what time of year, to explore the majestic beauty and wild of the Rocky Mountains.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to send a shoutout to the Shining Mountain Waldorf School (SMWS) in Boulder, Colorado! My parents are amazing humans that wanted their children to become their best selves and supported us every step of the way. I was blessed to attend SMWS from 4th-12th grade and my grade school teacher Dawn Diehl was incredibly influential by inspiring the creative spirit within us. She was so encouraging and enthusiastic and I will forever be grateful for her guidance! My high school art teacher Hikaru Hirata is a Japanese Fantastic Realist and he opened doors of possibility that has led me on an adventurous and stellar life path.
