We had the good fortune of connecting with Melodie Essig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melodie, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Los Angeles and then my family moved to Long Island. I attended private school there. Where we learned meditation and were encouraged to be creative and in-tune with nature. I also learned fine arts privately growing up and am a trained artist. I studied Yoga at Naropa University in Boulder CO and completed my BA there. I have been teaching yoga professionally ever since. I’ve taught at yoga retreat centers, temples, Universities and studios. As well as privately and in group situations. My professional background is in holistic healing and natural medicine also. I am a professional Astrologer. I completed an apprenticeship in Evolutionary Astrology in 2011. With my Yoga background i went on to study Vedic Astrology which is the older and more scientifically accurate system. I studied privately with a Jyotish or Vedic Astrology Guru many years. I’m grateful to be living my dharma of helping others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a Yoga teacher, I have a BA in Traditional Eastern Arts with a Concentration in Yoga from Naropa University. My degree was paired with a 1,200 hour yoga teacher training. In addition, I’m a professional Jyotishya or Vedic Astrologer. I offer one on one or group lessons and mentorship. As well as private astrology consultations. I’ll be presenting with the top astrologers in the world this year at the Maharishi Parashara Conference. I also offer essential oils from Do Terra. Please feel free to contact me. I’m happy to assist.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love the Tonic Bar, Rebecca’s and Apothecary for herbal remedies and elixirs. Old Tibet is amazing for Eastern clothing, statues and jewelry. The Creek Path and Boulder Falls are wonderful nature spots.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thank you to all of my yoga teachers, mentors and gurus. Namely: Nataraja Kallio who runs the Yoga program at Naropa University. In addition, Sreedevi Bringi who is a recently retired Sanskrit and Vedic scholar and professor at Naropa University. As well as famous Yoga teachers Rainbeau Mars, and Erich Schiffmann. Extra thanks to my Jyotish Guru and mentor. World renown Traditional Indian Astrologer Ksanati.
