We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Zaghi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, what do you attribute your success to?
Campus Tec was the first technology park in Central America. It has been known, since its creation as the “Silicon Valley” of Guatemala, since its start in 2010. The rapid growth and success of our brand has been in the integration an collaboration of hundreds of companies, startups and professionals in the information and communication technologies sector that are part of our ecosystem. We promote innovation, disruptiveness but at the same time, sustainability, profitability and a good social impact.
What should our readers know about your business?
I had the opportunity to create one of the first companies in Latin America that commercializes technology from our region to the world and vice versa. We started in 2010 with 100 companies and we have over 1600 now. It has been an interesting process. We initially worked with local companies in Guatemala but we have been able to attract the interest of other companies in the region because we promote the agendas of exporting and importing technology in ICTS (information and communication technologies) and also nearshoring via outsourcing to give services that are now exported to several countries in the world. We also have a very big number so professionals (over 10,000) that are part of our directory to support our efforts in the region and worldwide.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take the to our CampusTec. We have several restaurants and places to meet people and enjoy local food and have a good time. Although we also like to make tours through our location to meet companies and people that are enthusiastic about technology. We called them technology tours and they have been very popular since the start of our operation in 2010.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to recognize and empower our young talents in Guatemala, Central and Latin America that are interested in technology. Their passion and interest thought their entrepreneurship is the main reason for our existence. At the same time the support of local and international companies, academic institutions and other organizations, local and international, that promote through their efforts the use of technology for a better way of life is key too.
