Meet Dr. Macauley Mackintosh | Doctor of Chiropractic

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Macauley Mackintosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Macauley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am a first generation American, whose father came to this country so we could better our lives. Unfortunately we lost my dad to glioblastoma brain cancer when I was 17 years old, when I was a senior in high school. It has not been an easy road since, but it is sometimes our worst experiences in life that drive us to have success in life. It was always my American Dream to open my own Chiropractic Practice. I didn’t see the point in working for somebody else for a lower wage, building their business and dream, without anywhere near the same respect, or benefits. Why work for somebody else, when I know I am going to clash heads with them from a clinical perspective as I was ready to be my own doctor without being in somebody else’s shadow. Approximately 1 in 10 people in their family will be the “breaker of chains” and start a business, run a business, and become successful and change their families lives. I have to be that person for my family, as I am the first doctoral level educated individual, and my family is looking at me to provide for them, and retire our mother.
What should our readers know about your business?
What separates Dr. Mackintosh from other Chiropractors, is my intangibles, drive, grit, perseverance, and ability to connect with my patients on a human level. My training young in my career at the University of Buffalo Neurosurgical Spine Center (UBNS) exposed me to vast amounts of spinal pathology, comorbidities, and personalities in a short time frame. This provided me with tremendous experiences in becoming proficient a neuro-muscular conservative care spine specialist. I had many opportunities to work alongside other medical providers, and helping patients avoid neurosurgery was very rewarding. I decided to leave Buffalo New York even though I had other opportunities, to move back to my home state of Colorado to open my own practice. I truly believe in myself, my skillset, my training, my adjustment skills so much that I know I can achieve whatever I set my mind too, The world has thrown a lot of bad decks of cards into my hands, but it’s been how I have learned to play the hands I am dealt. I am just a poor kid from buffalo that lost his dad at a very young age, who went through tremendous pain, poverty, individual and family struggles. I have used all my pain from my past to be a positive driving force for good into the world. I am excited to see where my medical practice grows, as I am extremely ambitious and know I will be the best Chiropractor in Colorado, and become a household name worldwide. Nothing in this world has been easy, or given to me. But it is our challenges we encounter that makes diamonds form under pressure. I will succeed because I have too, because my families future depends on it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver is a destination station with a plethora of things to do. I think the Stanley Marketplace is a great place to take my friends or family, meow wolf, central station, 54 thirty rooftop lounge, Manitou Springs, or even the Flatirons of Boulder. I believe seeing a concert at redocks is a must do event, no matter what artist is performing it is going to be amazing energy, experiences, or views. I always take my friends or family into Boulder or Breckenridge for tourism, breweries, and scenic views!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s hard to give recognition to just one person in regard to my success thus far. I would like to personally thank my loving and supporting mother, Sidra and my older brother whom I have always looked up too, Matthew. I wouldn’t be here without my two beautiful dogs, Shumba, and Luke who have been with me and my worst days. My close friends, and mentors from University of Buffalo Neurosurgical Spine Center (UBNS) Dr. Jon Beck, and Dr. Daniel Popoola who have not only been very supportive mentors, but friends. They showed me what it was like to truly conduct myself as a professional, their work ethic, thought process, and how to be a man. I also wanted to thank my closest small group of friends, Jack, Robert, Rob, Mo, Derek, Tyler, Garrett, and Jake. Without these key individuals I would not be achieving my dreams.
