We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanna Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breanna, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Patience. Wildlife photography is nearly impossible if you don’t have patience, and I definitely didn’t before I started. Now I have no problem hanging out waiting for birds or other wildlife to come by

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got to where I am now just by practicing. I am no where near my end goal. I’m fact, I just started photography last August! It was a big learning curve as I hadn’t had any experience with photography at all and then one day I decide to buy a camera and starts from scratch! My main challenge that I face today is time. I never seem to have enough time to go to all the spots I would love to visit. I work a full time job as an engineer, which I love, but there are many days where I have FOMO and just want to be out shooting!

I want people to know that I’m a do it all photographer. At least I try to be. I mainly do wildlife and landscape but have been dipping into wedding and portrait photography!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the western and southern part of CT! The beaches are amazing for wildlife here, and the western side is just gorgeous scenery. Kent falls is the tallest waterfall in the state and it is not something I’d want to miss while I was here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my family, for always supporting me no matter what. They were the first to give me opportunities to photograph them, and they are always willing to come with me on trips to go see some landscapes. My boyfriend is another one who has endless patience, and will hang out with me for hours just taking photos!
