We had the good fortune of connecting with Eryn Wintz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eryn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
A genuine love and grateful grace for this landscape and her creatures, this community and our places. It’s a gift for us to share our cabins with new guests and Creede lifers, especially the ones who want to dig in and explore. We took extra effort to make sure the cabins have everything a guest could need for a few days or a long stay, keep them both extremely clean, and made them stylish for fun. I spend the time and do the work, with a conscience effort to remember being busy is what we prayed for. My husband’s natural skills, my vision, and our teamwork helped us to create spaces that are unique, inviting, and boujee at times. If I had to pick one factor though, it’s our commitment to our guests and our follow through to try and ensure their very best time while they are here in the very best place.

What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I created our cabin business with a genuine intention to simply share what we have been blessed with. I work full time in an office, my husband recently retired from caretaking at the Rio Grande Reservoir and keeping everyone’s horses shod. We created a home that we loved so much when the surrounding properties came up for sale we took the plunge. We contracted with a good friend and builder who helped us completely remodel the big cabin, and together we created a truly one of a kind mountain paradise. I used the ranch my husband grew up on as inspiration, he used the knowledge his daddy taught him on that ranch to create fish habitat, increase the pasture yield, and build unique aspects that both enhanced the functionality and also made it rad to look at. We both put in the sweat equity to keep things fresh, functioning, and especially…fun. It’s hard work, but it’s good work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh Creede is a treasure trove! So many different scenarios dependent of the time of year you are lucky enough to visit! A summer trip consists of hiking endless mountain trails, peaking the continental divide and local 14ers, eating on the deck over the river at Antlers resort, catching a local rodeo, and perusing all the local shops and galleries after a ride the rails up and raft down river trip. Fall brings fly fishing in the gold medal waters, aspen “peeping” on the alpine loop, theatre performances at our local repertory, garden harvests and limited draw hunting or atving into Wheeler Geologic area, catch a Freemons burger and ice cream on the way to North Clear Creek Falls (although the less photographed South Clear Creek Falls is my favorite). Winter is an incredible time to visit, with black diamond runs at Wolf Creek (most powder in Colorado), the popular pond hockey tournament, miles of cross country and snow shoe groomed trails. Snowmachining in the back country and the parade of lights with fireworks over a snowy landscape. Spring watches the mountains wake up, enjoy a tour of the Last Chance Mine, take a drive to the Sand dune park while Medano Creek is running, catch the first brooke trout of the year and spring ski trips that require hiking boots for dry patches (fun for the dogs), and finally…Big Doug’s BBQ rolls out his world famous Bahn Mi. Creede is a magical place and we are so excited to share it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is for all the people working so hard to make this community work. From the chamber of commerce constantly shining the light, the volunteers that comprise EMS, event crews, and caregivers. The small business owners that work their tails off and create the draw for shoppers and tourists, the employees that show up and grind out the hours keeping the wheels turning. This community is a gift, and I try and do my own shout outs as often as I can!
