Meet Chris Jaubert | Principal Architect

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Jaubert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There wasn’t a singular reason for starting my own business, rather a culmination of many influencing factors that drove me to do so. I felt I had gained enough professional experience and I knew how to manage client’s expectations. I had also formed manyvaluable relationships across the industry, so I knew I had a number of reliable resources to rely on for references. Since the custom architectural design process is a very lenghty and personal one, I wanted to have control over client selection to make sure that I was compatible with each client and project. The primary reason, though, was that I was anxious to have the design autonomy. I was really excited to show the world that I was a talented designer in my own right, and not just under someone else’s wing.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think, as a boutique firm, we get to offer a more personal touch to each of our projects. As the Principal, I am directly involved with every project from conception to completion; there’s no hand off. So the client is working with me throughout the entire process. Also, because our entire staff is intimate with each project and it’s progress, even those that aren’t assigned to a project can jump in in a moment’s notice to help if we need them to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in a resort community means that we get to play tour guide to famliy and friends when they visit this magical place. We always make sure that they get a good sampling of the local hikes, like Death Canyon or Ski Lake. Everyone has to get a taste of Yellowstone, so we usually line them up with an itinerary for a day or two of driving through to see the geysers and wildlife. We try to hit Snake River Brewing for lunch and a beer, Hoback Market for their delicious sloshies, and Snake River Grill for an unforgettable dinner. Big Hole BBQ is always a fan favorite as well as Teton Thai Plate. And of course, before they leave town they have to get a photos sitting on a saddle bar stool at The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank my parents for always pushing me to follow my passions and instilling in me a work ethic that I feel has served me very well as a business owner. I’d alos like to dedicate my shoutout to my late grandfather who started studying to be an architect, but never had the chance to fulfill that dream.
