Meet Nancy Boland | Interior Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Boland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Prioritizing our clients and projects. It’s very easy to be distracted in this business, especially given the influence of social media and the importance of being published. Staying true to our goals of creating beautiful and functional spaces for our clients in a responsible way is paramount to our success, and is in line with our values as business people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Marty and I come from different backgrounds, and we truly believe that this is what makes our firm successful. Marty has the formal training and education, having graduated from interior design school. Nancy learned the business firsthand, working for designers and a large design firm, learning the ins and outs of the business by “doing.” Both of us would agree that it takes years to gain the knowledge of the ins and outs of this business, and there is no better way to learn than to do. Much of this business, other than the technical skills, can not be taught in school. For us, staying true to our love of antiques, vintage, and the mix of old and new has paid off, and has set us apart from many designers in our region. It defines us and our work, and our clients come to us for this reason.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love the small shops in Denver for, what else……home furnishings and accessories. Miller Lane Mercantile and Homebody are our favorite spots for unique finds. We love Bloom for gifts and flowers, Haven for clothing, and Walker Fine Art for art. El Five is our favorite spot in the city for views and food, Uchi for sushi, and Red Rocks for live music.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We have both been extremely grateful for our families from the beginning in their support of our business, both financially and allowing us to dedicate the time needed to get the business started. Of course, we could not do what we do without our team, which consists of our senior designer and our design assistant. They are the reason we have made it to where we are, and we are forever grateful for their dedication to our firm. Lastly, our business coaches and the loving community of the Pearl Collective, who continue to give the support and encouragement needed to keep going, despite the challenges and difficulties that we in the business experience on a daily basis.
