We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaz Faulhaber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chaz, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think sometimes “RisK” and “Fear” become synonymous, and often people will interpret something as “too risky” instead of saying to themselves “that scares me”. The truth is that when we shift our perception away from that reaction to “risk”, we can see a roadmap to a better form of ourselves by addressing our fears. Now I’m not saying “Go jump in the lion exhibit at the zoo”, but I am saying that the “Risks” we see in life may simply be disguised by fear as the next, better form of your evolution.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From a branding perspective, my mother said when I was around the age of two, I began to recognize brand logos, enough so that if we drove by a McDonalds or Nike store, I would get excited (or cry, if we didn’t stop for some french fries, lol). I’m lucky that my mother fostered my creativity and pushed me to work hard in every creative outlet she could find for me (we were living in Saudi Arabia for a majority of my life) and I’m proud to say that I embraced every opportunity given to me. So I guess if there’s a way to describe my form of creativity, it’s a big-branded tone (heavy stroke, bold colors and contrast) that was fostered with love from my parents.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I moved back to Colorado for the mountain biking (anyone who’s seen the movie Life Cycles gets it). So if I had a friend come visit me, I would probably start with a morning ride up Apex or White Ranch, then descending down to Golden, stopping at the River for a quick dip, then moving on to the afternoon for a beer in RiNo before heading to a concert at Red Rocks that evening.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m a huge fan of Howard Schultz’s books “Pour Your Heart Into It” and “Onward”; the origin story, the passion and vision curated, and the rebirth of that dream is fascinating to read about and witness, and both have a permanent spot on my bookshelf.
