Meet Kari Chatterji | Intuitive Executive Coach, Counselor and Yoga Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kari Chatterji and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kari, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been thinking about doing something like this for years, but have been so involved in supporting my family and community as a wife and mother of three that I just needed to be patient and wait for the right time. While I have been serving in my own community, as a Yoga and meditation teacher and as a women’s circle facilitator, I knew that eventually I would expand my offerings but didn’t know exactly what that would look like. Would it be counselor or would it be coach? I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling but because I moved to California when I had small children, I never pursued licensure. Last year, I decided to pivot and get certified as an executive coach through the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute. This was what then lead me st start Jupiter Insights which is a way I can now offer all I have to share. It’s very exciting. The time is right!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jupiter Insights is a company I created as a way for someone to find out about the work I am doing in the world.. My offerings span from executive coaching, to Yoga and meditation instruction, to woman’s circle facilitation. What makes me unique in all of these offerings is my training and experience as a counselor. I am born to support others along their life’s journey and when I began my professional journey I was sure it was through clinical or school counseling. One of the many profound wisdom’s I have learned through Yoga is to be flexible in life. My website is meant to give the view and a sense of what I am like to work with as a coach and teacher; an energetic feel. Jupiter is the planet that rules the timing of my birth (in Vedic astrology this is known and expressed as a birth chart). I really hope that when people explore who I am and my offerings, by going to my website, they are left with a feeling of who I am and what kind of person I am like to work with. Starting this company was only as easy as the timing was! The time was just right this past year, the inspiration and motivation was high, and so it felt relatively easy. If I had started it a year before or even years ago, I am positive I would have faced challenges and more stress. I am a part of a community of 5 in my house. We all have to support one another and it just seems like this was the year when my family could support me in this effort.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The older and “wiser” I get I realize that simple things in life are truly the best. I live in Los Angeles County so the options of things to do in a day are seemingly endless. I have learned that in order for people to really have a good time they need to relax, be seen, honored and valued. I would invite this “best friend” to my house in the morning and serve them a creamy and delicious cup of homemade masala chai served with some delicious savory crunchy snacks and homemade bread. We’d sit on my couch and talk then move to the yard and talk, and then back to the breakfast bar to talk just catching up and enjoying that connection. Next, we would head to the beach for a few hours with a picnic lunch and maybe even a little white wine to share. We’d definitely jump in the ocean and feel like kids again together with a little salt water therapy. We’d get in the car around 2 and maybe take a drive up to the Palos Verdes peninsula to see the views of the bay. Maybe even take a little hike on some of the trails to take in more of Mother Nature’s gifts. At about 4 or 5 o’clock we’d head home and get showered to then head to dinner at my favorite restaurant called Pura Vita. This is an amazing vegan Italian place in my neighborhood. So we’d stay local and keep it simple and focused on one another and our place in this beautiful world.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband VIsh Chatterji author of the Business Casual Yogi and the founder of Head and Heart Insights is a huge inspiration to me! He is the one who encouraged me to attend the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute and start sharing my gifts with the world.
I also have to dedicate this to my Yoga teacher of 20+ years Yogrishi Vishvketu founder of the Akhanda Yoga Institute who told me many years ago to be patient and focus on the karma Yoga I was doing by raising and supporting my family.
Also my my mother and father John and Vicky Whitson who never expected me to stay in any kind of box. They always encouraged me to stay open to the universe and lean into new experiences. The are my biggest fans.
Finally to my three children Chetan, Jaya and Dharma who I pray will never hold back their divine gifts and so hopefully by starting this company and doing this work, I can be an example to them. The world needs us to shine!
