Meet Lori DiPasquale | artist/decorative painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori DiPasquale and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lori, what inspires you?
Life inspires me…..
I love watching the sunrise, from subtle shifts of color to dramatic announcements of a new day, the color and clouds
inspire me.
Witnessing nature with the perfect play of light, texture and shapes inspires me.
Poetry and lyrics inspire me. I sometimes try to paint the feeling songs evoke for me.
Heartbreak inspires, so does joy.
Life inspires me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my career as a decorative painter 32 years ago, studying the craft and technique at schools in San Francisco, New York City, Toronto and France. I have worked in many beautiful residential homes and have the honor of working at the Broadmoor Hotel as their resident decorative artist, having worked on many challenging projects over the years for this beautiful and historic five-star hotel. The decorative arts have informed and influenced my fine art, and I feel most fortunate that I love the work and projects that I get to do. The interior design industry is ever changing with the newest colors and designs, what was popular a few years ago gets erased and updated. I have learned to stay relevant in this dynamic field, learning new techniques and refining my style and techniques I have learned to stay fluid and evolve in my artistic expression.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would walk and hike a lot! So many beautiful trails and scenery to experience, the Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Canyon, even the vistas of Palmer Park’s dog park where we can let my dog Enzo run free! We would grab a beer at Goat Patch, perhaps have more fun downtown as there are so many great places to go. One stop would have to be my favorite restaurant Shugas. We would visit the Broadmoor so we can stroll around the property and I can show her my work and all the beauty.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people have encouraged me, how much space to I have?!
Abigale Kreuser and Gundega Stevens of Auric Gallery have encouraged me with showing my work and have been so very positive as I shift and evolve in my art making. Marisa White has modeled for me manifestation and business savvy,
Deb Komitor’s gentle encouragement and steady work ethic inspires me. The artists at True North Art Gallery are enthusiastic as we cheer each other on and celebrate every sale and success. Chris Alvarez inspires me with his effortless and loose brushwork, encouraging me to keep learning. And of course my family who comes to every art opening and my friends that purchase my art! I feel surrounded by a loving community for which I am most grateful!!
