We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Bitner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, how do you define success?
To me, success is defined by how you choose to spend your time and is different for every person. If someone is spending the majority of their time enjoying activities they love and choosing how they get to spend their time, that is success. Success is not the same for two people. For one person, success may mean owning a home, being able to financially support their family, living out of their van, etc. Personally, how I define my own success is am I happy with the way I am choosing to spend my time with work and with my free time? If the answer is yes, then I feel I am on the right path to my own personal version of “success.” If the answer is no, then I need to reevaluate how I am spending my time to ensure I am focusing on the right things that bring joy to my life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Tiffany Bitner Photography (TBP) is an adventure elopement photography company that focuses on helping couples bring their dream adventure wedding with their best friend in their favorite place in nature to life while also photographing the entire celebration. We encourage couples to focus on the elements of their special day that are most important to them. We want to help couples narrow in on the activities that excite them and build a day around those activities. I am more than just an adventure elopement photographer, I am also my couples’ planner, location guide, permitting BFF, and friend! It is my responsibility to make sure that my couples never feel alone during the planning process and that they feel that during their special day I am capturing moments that really reflect who they are as individuals and as a couple. I am most excited to help couples on this journey to create a day that is uniquely them! It is so much fun learning about each couple and individual and what is important to them. Is it including your furbabies, making sure you celebrate the day at your first date location, or including your immediate family? Every couple and individual is different and I want to make sure that their day fits them perfectly! This variety and uniqueness is what really excites me about being an adventure elopement photographer. Another aspect I absolutely love is getting to share this beautiful state with others. Colorado is truly something special and when I can experience Colorado’s beauty paired with a couple’s love for each other and this state, it is so incredible! It has not always been an easy path. Starting a business during a pandemic is challenging. Human connection and interaction are such an important part of the wedding industry (and life in general), when you aren’t able to have that it is hard. But, I think one of the largest lessons I’ve learned is that people are resilient and come together in incredible ways. During the lockdown, many vendors in the wedding industry decided to invest in relationships: with our clients, with each other, and with ourselves. This connection in a time where many felt so distant from one another is something I will always be thankful for. I used this time as a way to learn, grow, and prepare! Tiffany Bitner Photography is the photographer for you if you love nature (and also have a desire to preserve and protect it) and want to marry your best friend while embarking on a non-traditional adventure in nature!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot is hands-down in the mountains! To me, there is nothing more magical than being in the mountains surrounded by nature! There are many mountain towns I love from Granby to Ouray, but my favorite has always been and will always be Estes Park. From the very first time I visited Estes Park, I knew it was something special. Sitting at the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park is full of adorable local shops and restaurants that no matter how many times you visit, you can’t get enough of them! My recommendation would be to visit every shop and restaurant in Estes Park and check out which ones appeal to you the most. They each have their own charm. While visiting Estes Park, you should also check out the trail by the river as well as the path that goes along Lake Estes. If you are looking for trails, you have to check out Rocky Mountain National Park! There are so many amazing trails! If you are looking to get above treeline without having to hike, you can also drive on Trail Ridge Road and see some of the most amazing views of the high country!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband and my family. Starting a business is very challenging. More challenging than I ever could have imagined! There are so many unexpected elements of owning a business that you are constantly learning new things. There are many long nights, rejection, feelings of comparison, and questions of if you are on the track right. Having a support system that is there to listen to your frustration, confusion, and feelings of defeat and celebrate you landing that amazing client, learning something new, and finally figuring out that skill you’ve been practicing for so long is so important. I would not have a business if my family wasn’t there cheering me on since the beginning. I’ve had a lot of big dreams and ambitions throughout my life and taking the chance on starting my own photography business is one of the largest undertakings I have started. But yet, my family has been there every step of the way. I cannot thank them enough for all of their input, kind words, tough questions, and encouragement! It truly means the world! To my husband, thank you for everything! Your help and support have left a profound impact on the way I view Tiffany Bitner Photography. I couldn’t do this without you! I also would like to thank all of the other wedding vendors who have been so kind and supportive always offering advice and suggestions. This community is amazing! Thank you!
