We had the good fortune of connecting with Shay Koloff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shay, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about my industry that outsiders are unaware of is most likely the scope of how broad holistic healing can be. When you think of herbalism, many think of just herbs and tea, but in my practice we use multiple paths to complete healing. These paths can include recommendations for sound healing, meditation, or massage. There are many facets to the natural alternatives that cater to that of body, mind, and soul care.

What should our readers know about your business?
Zenith Moon Co. is my herbal product company that offers alcohol free tinctures, and custom herbal care. What sets us apart from others companies, is our compassion for individualized care to each client. Being a black-owned company, we cater to many persons of color for their needs, and are able to help our clients feel confident in their care. Natural alternatives have been taught as a stand against what many today know for modern health care. My challenge has been educating others on how they can work hand in hand with natural and modern medicine for their needs. Our brand is all for education and empowerment in self care and herbal choices, our mission most importantly is giving the power back to the people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Broom Circle Holistic Healing & Tea Room is a company and store that I founded here in Colorado Springs. The new owners Mariam Molake and Melissa McAfee provide the backbone of the store by continuing our excellent client relationships, creating community experiences, workshops, and continuing to provide a safe space for community gatherings where the signature artisan boutique is filled with other small businesses that we support as a part of our unique showroom!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Pikes Peak Permaculture is a non-profit whose mission is to provide education and instruction to the general public on the nature, ways and benefits of the discipline of Permaculture. I have worked with this organization closely over the last 3 years on education workshops, volunteering, garden developments, and community fundraising in the Pikes Peak Region throughout my time as a active member. They are an incredible resource to the community, that many people can learn from when it comes to gardening and landscaping in this region!
