Meet Kesia King | Traditional and Digital Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kesia King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kesia, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I have been growing this business for 10 years and have had to face many defeats among victories. But, I think the most important lesson I’ve had to learn is trusting time. Time can either be your friend or enemy depending on your perspective. I think it has been my closest friend because it has made me patient and created new experiences and opportunities. I’m am really grateful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a creative in every fiber of my being. Growing up as only child forced me to find different ways to entertain myself. I’ve built things from nothing, physically and in imagination. My creative sense branched into many avenues like creative writing (fictional stories) where my love of world-building began. It was only natural when my imagination was able to transfer through pen and paper. Artistry is never an easy path, but my vision has never wavered from it. My art’s evolution over a span of 30 years has been worth every obstacle and lesson that I have overcome. And I am excited to see where my continuous growth will continue to take me. It’s always about your own stride.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If they came during the summer, festivals are where the creatives are. Great music, amazing food trucks, surrounded by vibing people. I’d definitely pay a visit to the Denver Art Museum or even the Denver library. We can go to the mountains too. There are hotsprings in Idaho Springs and Jazz festivals in Winter Park. There is never a shortage of sights to see when stepping foot in Colorado.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents because they have been my biggest supporters of my dream to become an Artist. Because of them I was able to go to school and gain the knowledge I needed to grow within my talents. They never discouraged me or told me to go down other paths; they have proudly stayed with me every step of the way.
