We had the good fortune of connecting with Anjolie Ackerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anjolie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea of starting my own business stemmed from my childhood self always being a “girly girl”. I’ve always had a huge passion for everything pretty – hence why wedding planning was right up my alley.
For as long as I could remember, planning events (even as a child) was the biggest passion of mine. My mom, Kristy played such a huge role in that. She actually used to be an Event Planner and she’d create the most stunning events.
From the time I was a little girl up until now, planning has been a constant in my life. Whether it be planning my own childhood birthday parties (which were off the charts), or planning my friend’s weddings, it has created an insane amount of pure joy within me.
A few years ago, I noticed how expensive weddings truly are. It made me feel like there was a void within the budget-friendly community. Not everyone has the same budget – and not everyone wants the same things….that’s why I started my business.
I already knew the way around as far as event planning goes, so I took a leap of faith and created DNVR WEDDING PLANNER. My services are as budget friendly as possible – for the same quality as expensive wedding planners.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The thing that sets me apart from other’s is my dedication to my craft. I am always learning and teaching others about the wedding business.
Wedding’s are constantly changing – from the trends to all the different cultures, no wedding is the same. That’s why I am constantly learning. Reading articles and experiencing in person helps a ton within my craft.
I’m so incredibly proud of my success. A lot of people had doubts about my business, because it was so budget friendly…but it all weighs out because at the end of the day, I get to have fun using my true passion, and you get to have the most aesthetically pleasing wedding.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would instantly take them to Rocky Mountain National Park. There’s something within that park for everyone. If you’re an introvert, we’d probably spend our day there at Lily Lake enjoying the views. If you’re an extrovert, I’d probably take you on a long hike!
After that, we’d go to Casa Bonita. Now I know that sounds cliche but if you’re a first time Colorado visitor that likes to watch South Park, then it’s probably the best place to take you. Even then, if you don’t watch the show, it’s an experience to write home about because of how odd it is there.
Lastly, we’d have to check out a hockey game. I mean seriously Colorado has the best hockey team ever!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give the biggest shoutout to my clients. I know that sounds funny to say but I truly wouldn’t be where I am now without their trust in me creating the perfect day.
My clients are some of the most amazing and genuine people. I truly consider them all my best friends!
