We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jocelyn, what do you attribute your success to?
If I have learned anything this last year – through truthfully, one of the toughest and most adverse years of my life – it is tenacity. Before my life came crashing down on April 14th, 2023, I was living a comfortable life. I was a Project Manager with a good salary, lived in a nice townhome, drove a nice car, and I had began my successes as a model & actress by getting signed to my first agency in Denver.

However, the comfort was not my friend. It did not push me all of the way.

When my life came crashing down, and I was borderline homeless after losing everything and having no money for backup – I didn’t feel I was left with a choice. I went for my dreams full force – and went through an extraordinarily difficult 6 months – but I kept going and am emerging from the ashes.

Tenacity is everything.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have an absolute love and desire to perform. I have a loud and proud powerhouse voice, but entertaining is so much more to me than just singing. I love to pick up the feel of the audience, change the atmosphere, raise the vibration of the crowd, and engage with my audience. I love people, I love entertaining, I love to cheer on my colleagues and promote others in the industry, and I love, love, love to do the unexpected.

I have known I was born to be on the stage since I was 3 years old, I however did not choose to pursue that dream until just a year and half ago. I let comfort – the enemy of dreams – and the opinions of others, drag me down in to a life that was not meant for me.

Ultimately, that life burned down to the ground, and I am so glad that it did. Within a few short months I was laid off, drained of the only savings I had left in order to survive, late on rent, late on my car, and needing to illicit help from family for things as simple as groceries and electricity. Out of necessity, I ended up taking the only job I could find waitressing on a cruise on the Puget Sound, working 15 hour days, 7 days a week, sleeping in a dungeon next to the engine. I was uprooted from a life I had built for myself and a home that I loved. It was a low moment. A very, very low moment.

However – It was one of the best things to ever happen to me. I wouldn’t trade it for one thousand Christmases.

Without that low point, and a true (though, forced) reset – I don’t know if I would have dug deep and pursued my dreams like I am now, once and for all.

I literally had nothing else to lose – so now was the time to go for it, all the way. Once and for all.

Within the last year and a half that I decided to pursue my passion and follow my dreams, I got signed to two agencies, walked in Fashion Week, and got invited to an international event in New York to showcase my talent just a few short months from now. Doors are opening for me, and I finally feel like I am walking in the life that was meant for me, that I have dreamed about since I was a little girl.

I had faced so much adversity, over the last decade especially, and ultimately listened to voices that did not have my best interest at heart. That was truthfully the gravest mistake. That part was hard – I was living a life that I did not ever want for myself, I was surrounded by people who did not dream themselves, nor allowed others to dream. I did not recognize the person I was becoming. I did not feel satisfied, fulfilled, or authentic to my true self – to who I always knew that I was.

The 9-5 grind is just not for me. A comfortable, quiet life is just not for me. Living in the shadows is not for me. It never was.

I was born to perform. And now, I am doing it.

Follow your heart. Surround yourself with people who are for you. Trust me – there are out there – and they are waiting for you to step out.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I’m off the stage – I can truly be a very simple gal. One of my favorite things to do is walk the Windsor lake. It’s a peaceful part of town with some of the nicest people around, and some charming historical buildings downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been overwhelmed by the circle of support and encouragement I have had over this last year – especially with how difficult and unexpected all of the events were.

But I got to give my shoutout to my girl ADRINA MAX!!!! She is not only one of my dearest friends, but an excellent colleague and mentor.

I don’t know where I’d be without her!
