Meet Rocio Nunez | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rocio Nunez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rocio, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always liked taking pictures in high school, I was the one who almost always had a film camera with me and took pictures with my friends, but I never knew that you could study and make a business out of it, until I met a friend who liked photography, unlike me, she had taken classes and had knowledge about photography, then we started talking about photography, and she gave me one or two tips, I bought my first camera and started practicing with my children, at that time it was just a hobby, until we became motivated to continue practicing and to break the fear barrier and charge for our first photo shoots , currently she is also a photographer who has grown a lot and occasionally we work together taking photos and video at social events.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is the people. I love capturing those moments that represent an instant that will never come back. Playing with the colors of the real moment and how I see it in my head makes me get a photograph that in the future will make me and my clients feel again what made that baby smile, or what that couple felt in that kiss, or how happy that family was when sharing an afternoon in the park. So, in reality, my art is the people who give me those moments that I can capture and keep forever.
What I am most proud of, is not only the progress I have made with the quality of my photographs, but most important is the way people is noticing me and my work, and when they decide to work with me, they feel comfortable during the photoshoot, they have a good time, and they end up really happy with their beautiful pictures.
I’ve been doing this mostly as a hobby, but this year my life changed a little bit, I got divorced, so I really needed an income to support my family, so I decided this was the year, I started a business accelerator program with EforAll Colorado and I learned so much about business administration, but mostly, I was inspired by some strong and enterprising women who, like me, are facing challenges and do not give up and show that we can do it, even when we may think we can’t, or even when the circumstances (or the system) are against us.
Right now I don’t consider myself successful. I have succeeded in many challenges, and I am proud of what I’ve achieved, but I’m not even close to what I want, what I see in my future, and how I want my kids to see me, like a successful photographer with a studio and providing the best to them.
What I’ve learned is that no matter how good you are at something you do, if you are not consistent and open to improvement, you will never get the results you expect.
I would like the world to see me as a friendly, warm and trustworthy photographer, who enjoys every session and finds joy in every smile created.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting me, of course she would stay at home with me, the very first day I would make coffee and some spicy chilaquiles with Huevos Rancheros. The places I would take her during the week are downtown boulder, Chautauqua park, the Lost Gulch lookout, to feed the ducks at estes park, Garden of the gods, 7 falls, Downtown Denver and some other beautiful places in Colorado. I would take her to a Piano bar (like Howl of the moon if it were open) ands of course to Elitch Gardens, I would share these moments with some of my family members and other friends, because the more the merrier 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
