We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Buzzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Over the years, I have identified that risk taking is an essential part of a meaningful life, as well as a requirement to building a purposeful career, and impactful business. Starting my own business was a huge risk, and I was so scared to take that first step. As my career has developed and my business has grown, there have been more and more risks – expanding my business to a group practice where I employ other therapists, investing in my business in various ways financially, and focusing on building creative, powerful psychedelic-assisted groups and retreats (something I haven’t seen many other people do). As of late, the risk I am taking is starting a podcast, which is requiring a great deal of time and money, as well as requiring me to step outside of my comfort zone, and put myself on a more public platform. Every time I do something new in my career, there is fear and doubt, but because I truly believe that risk and fear are a required part of entrepreneurship, I consult with trusted colleagues and mentors and trust in myself and what I am building. Not every project or venture has worked out, but I have always learned something new with every risk I take, no matter the outcome so I call that a win!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a licensed therapist, and own Alchemy Therapy and Wellness – a group practice with a team of therapists that see clients virtually throughout Colorado as well as in person in Denver, and Summit County (Frisco, CO). We specialize in providing effective, cutting-edge therapy that goes against the grain of traditional therapy. We tend to attract clients that are looking for REAL change, and want more from therapy than someone who just nods their head and listens. We specialize in helping individuals and couples improve their relationships, heal past trauma, and live healthier, happier lives. We take a holistic approach and see our clients as whole people – not just their challenges, problems, or struggles. We offer a blend of traditional approaches with alternative approaches like psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, attachment-focused therapy, nervous system approaches, and parts work (IFS) to help our clients create lasting change. We build real relationships with our clients, and also think outside the box to offer creative services like nervous system regulation workshops, couples intensives, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy groups and retreats throughout the state. We are proud of the work we do, and love the relationships we build with our clients. I started my career in the mental health field over 8 years ago, when I worked in various residential addiction treatment centers – working my way from a bachelors-level support staff to becoming a clinical director and supervisor. After working in a leadership role, I went on to open my own private practice and have since created a group practice, where I have a team of diverse, skilled clinicians providing services throughout the state. There have been many challenges throughout my career and I think the things that have kept me going are the relationships with mentors, colleagues, team members, and clients I’ve built over the years – the people I work with are truly the best part of the work I do. Creativity and risk-taking is something that I think has given me an advantage, as I am always interested in trying something new, and taking risks to continue to expand our brand, and help more people live healthier, fuller, happier lives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Paddleboarding at Cherry Creek Reservoir or Bear Creek Lake
Coffee walk – grab coffee at Wash Perk and walk around Wash Park
I love hitting restaurants in Cherry Creek North or checking out a new brewery

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t have gotten here without my guides and mentors along the way – notably Sam Tramuta, Kelly Luck, Mary Ann McCain, Jen Fiser + the Innate Path team, and Jane Thatcher Hahn. All of these people have invested their time and energy in me, and have given me various opportunities, of which I am eternally grateful. The best part is that I’ve formed relationships with all of these people, and feel that I can count on them to answer questions, give advice, or support me if I ever need. I believe mentorship is crucial, and I feel lucky that I get to mentor and guide other therapists, healers, and entrepreneurs at this point in my career.
