We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education. I thought teaching was the perfect job for a mom; no weekends, free evenings, free summers. After my daughter was born I wanted nothing but to stay home with my kids. Now two children later, I knew I needed and wanted a flexible job that still allowed me to be with my kids, be available for school pick up and events, and essentially be able to choose my own schedule.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently run an Airbnb cleaning business, with a team of 13, we service 11 Airbnb properties.

My cleaning business stemmed from simply sharing home cleaning tips on my instagram page. When we moved to Denver, our realtor that sold us our home asked if I would ever be interested in cleaning as a side job. I initially turned the opportunity down, and then decided to give it a shot (after all I knew it would make good instagram content!)

I began cleaning for him, doing mostly deep cleans for homes being sold/up for rent. At the time, I was working by myself with my two kids in tow.

Word of mouth spread quickly, and I landed my first Airbnb cleaning job. I realized quickly that I enjoyed cleaning airbnb’s far more than my other cleaning jobs. I landed a second Airbnb cleaning job (a BIG house this time) and I knew immediately that I needed help. I hired my first team member from my instagram page, and the rest is history! 😉

We continued to grow very quickly, documenting the whole process and sharing many cleaning tips along the way from our airbnb properties.

Only a year and a half later, we have a team of 13 and currently have a waitlist of clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although I have only been in Denver for 3 years, we absolutely love it here! A weekend trip to the mountains is always necessary. After a quick trip to the mountains, Denver has some of the best outdoor breweries to hang out and enjoy the beautiful weather we have (most of the year!)

I always love visiting Boulder, downtown Golden, and of course checking out Red Rocks!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been many people who have helped guide me along my business journey! I have luckily had the help of many other entrepreneurs along the way, and could not have done it without them. I recommend finding a circle of people who have similar goals to yours, there are always people out there willing to help get you started!
