We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachael Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For a long time I ignored my gifts. After my husband passed my gifts began to open up more. I felt I had been given these gifts for a reason and that I wasn’t honoring God by hiding the gifts He gave me. When I finally started to embrace and use my gifts, I saw how much healing it brought to the people I was interacting with. It was a really beautiful thing. I knew this was my calling and I had found my purpose. I got connected with my mentor and I started offering readings to people. At first it was just for people I was close to. Eventually I felt called to come out in the open so I joined a few networking groups. It was my “coming out” of the spiritual closet.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been doing this work professionally for 4 years now. The work I do is scared. I am very ethical in the services I provide and my integrity is very important to me. I work from my heart space and everything I do in my business comes from a place of love. It is my honor to help others find healing. The messages that come through when I am with a client are beautiful and full of love and hope.
It was not an easy journey to get where I am at today. I grew up in a very conservative Christian family. I was always told to ignore my gifts. I knew that by coming “out” I would lose some friends and even family. It was scary but I couldn’t deny the calling that had been put on my heart. I prayed a lot and eventually with my mentor’s encouragement I embraced who I was. I have learned that not everyone is going to understand your journey and that’s okay. No one else knows what God has whispered in your ear. I have also learned that I can be religious and spiritual at the same time. I don’t have to be one or the other. I can be both.
I have met so many others that have gifts but are afraid to embrace them. Part of why I am here is to show others that you can still love God/Jesus and embrace the gifts He has given you. We are all here to bring healing and love to one another. Don’t be afraid to shine your light!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love living in Colorado Springs. I love the beauty surrounding us here. I would take them to see Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Manitou, Cave of the Winds and Old Colorado City. These are some of my favorite places.
For food, I would take them to Rizutos. Best ice cream shop in my opinion. Overseas 101 for Chinese food. Pho-nomenal for Pho. Narai’s for Thai. Marigolds has amazing dinner and desserts and Sand’s for breakfast.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my good friend and mentor Carmel O’Sullivan. She taught me to embrace what God had given me. She taught me not to fear and how to protect myself energetically.
