We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuel Cooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samuel, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I found that dedicating a certain amount of time everyday helps me stay on track with my goals. Attacking obstacles in abstract ways helps me stay on my toes creatively.
I’m actively looking for inspiration in daily life whether it’s music, conversations in passing, or the city itself. I jump on almost every opportunity presented to me because when you’re a creative getting those reps in means the world. I’m obsessed with being successful so I take the time to create music that stands out and is high quality.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel my sound and melodies are unique in Denver plus I’m a great performer. I’m most proud of how my sound has evolved over the years and how creative I’ve become. I draw inspiration from my own life so going through and achieving things keeps me going. I learned that having a strong mind set will get you through anything.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the first things I would plan would be to catch a show at red rocks. My favorite food to eat out here is Korean bbq or Mexican food. We have a lot of local events, showcase, and clubs downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give credit to my family first and foremost because without them I probably would’ve given up a long time ago. My son is my biggest motivation because I need to be someone he can look up to. I want him to have everything he needs in life so I work that much harder in every aspect of life. My mom is also a huge part of my support system, my nickname for her is the “voice of reason” because she’s always been someone I can call when I need a little guidance. She’s an entrepreneur so whether it’s about business or life in general she has always been someone I can lean on. Lastly, I need to give credit to everyone who’s doubted me in this last year specifically, because the fire they lit under me has pushed me to accomplish things I never thought I could before.
