We had the good fortune of connecting with Jupiter Nordstrom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jupiter, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because a regular 9-5 job isn’t for me. There’s nothing wrong with a 9-5 job but it just isn’t for me. Being artistic with hair just comes naturally to me so it was like destiny for me to do this.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hair is my canvas and hair color is my paint. I’ve been doing hair for 12 years now. I’ve always been inspired by art while behind the chair. At the beginning of my career I had to take any client I could get until eventually I gained enough vivid clients I could fully focus on what I truly love: art. I’m constantly challenging myself to be better and better. I’m always learning new techniques and staying up to date on education.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Colorado Springs because it’s the perfect balance of city and nature. I would take them to breakfast at the Urban Egg. They have the best breakfast/drinks. Then I’d take them for a hike at Helen Hunt Falls. I love taking my dogs there. It’s by a waterfall so it’s so peaceful. After the hike we would head downtown to Coati for refreshments & lunch. There’s a delicious ice cream place called Frozen Gold that we could finish the day off at.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m going to shout out my mom because she’s been my BIGGEST cheerleader and supporter. She encouraged me to go to beauty school. She let me practice on her. She’s been there every step of the way.
