Meet Selena Alexander | Floral Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Selena Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Selena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own floral design business felt like the natural next step after spending years in the agriculture industry, where I got my hands dirty in all sorts of fields—literally! Along the way, I stumbled upon a true passion for turning flowers into art. Growing up surrounded by amazing artists in my family, creativity was always in my blood, and I was always the kid with a paintbrush or sketchpad in hand. So, when I found that I could combine my love for art with my experience in agriculture, it was like the stars aligned! I knew I had to dive headfirst into something that let me unleash my creative side, and floral design was the perfect way to do just that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a floral designer, I view floral design as an art form where every designer brings their unique style to life. What sets my designs apart is my love for creating unexpected designs and sometimes being bold with unusual floral combinations to craft something truly unique. My business name really says it all—I’m all about pushing the boundaries and experimenting with different elements to create designs that stand out.
I’m most proud of how my work resonates with people and brings joy to their special moments. Seeing someone’s face light up when they see the flowers I’ve designed is incredibly rewarding. I’m also excited about how my business has grown through collaborations with other creatives, which has allowed me to explore new ideas and push boundaries.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. The journey was filled with challenges, from building my brand to navigating the ups and downs of running a business. But each challenge taught me something valuable. I learned the importance of persistence, adaptability, and staying true to my vision, even when the path was unclear. I’ve also learned that success is a blend of hard work, passion, and surrounding yourself with a supportive community.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s more than just flowers; It’s magic! It’s about creating lasting memories and celebrating life’s beautiful moments. My story is one of growth, passion, and a deep love for what I do. I’m driven by the desire to bring beauty into the world and to help others express their emotions and stories through the art of floral design.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, we’d kick things off by exploring Golden for a couple of days. It’s one of my go-to spots—I love sticking my feet in the creek, sunbathing on a rock like a happy lizard, and then grabbing a double cheeseburger at Bob’s Burgers. After a chill day by the creek, we’d definitely hit up the Golden Moon Speakeasy for a cocktail.
The next day would start with a fancy morning tea at Babe’s Tea Room, complete with cute little tea cakes and tiny sandwiches. Then, we’d swing by Bjorn’s for some sweet honey samples before indulging in a whole spa day at the Woodhouse Spa.
We’d also have to squeeze in some mountain time with a hike, exploring quaint little towns, and, of course, some shopping.
To wrap it all up, we’d dive into the Santa Fe art district, munch on tacos at El Taco De Mexico, do some more exploring in RiNo, and finish the day with dinner at Sushi Den (literally the best restaurant in Colorado)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shoutout to Emmalee Babock from Monarch and Sage Photography for giving me a shoutout in her interview! Em and I have teamed up on a few projects, and let me tell you, she’s amazing at capturing those picture-perfect moments. Also, a huge thanks to Jaylynn from Weddings by Jay—your recommendations to so many couples mean the world to me! And last but definitely not least, a shoutout to Charley from Perry’s Plants. We started our businesses around the same time and have been cheering each other on ever since. She’s a total plant boss and her exterior planters are next level!”
