We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaia Moon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gaia, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance, to me, means listening to my body and honoring its ever changing needs. When I first started Forest Moon Medicine, there were times when I was so excited and motivated that I pushed myself and rushed some things. I’ve learned over time to slow down, and move from a place of authenticity and intuition. This has become a non-negotiable strategy for me. I have honed a practice of checking in with myself, and understanding my body’s signals, each day. I decide what to work on, how much to work, and how much to rest, based on how I feel that day. Given the heart centered nature of my work, it’s essential that I lead by example and move from that place when creating my offerings.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My offerings to the collective are the ever flowing ripples of my Soul’s journey. I create and share when I feel inspired by the Love that flows through me. All my offerings are co creations with the sacred land, the mountain I live on near Boulder. Spirit speaks to me through the plants, the trees, the stones, the river, the sun and moon. It’s my honor to be a vessel for divine cosmic energy, allowing it to flow through me. This is the energy I bring to my creations!

When I make herbal products, I start by listening to the plants themselves. When they want to be harvested, either from the forest or from my own mountain garden, and what medicines they want to be made into. I use my own lived experience and my intuition to select mediums for the plants, the addition of essential oils or gems, and even the designs for the packaging. Everything is made in very small batches based on what is freely offered by the land, and everything is made with love and prayers for the benefit of all beings.

I also create healing offerings on my land: forest reiki sessions and forest women’s circles. When I channel the energy of the earth and offer it to others as healing energy, I feel so lit up and like I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. I feel lucky to be able to do the work that I do.

Following my heart is the easy part. At times it can be challenging to be so unique in a world of plentiful passion projects and social media accounts. It takes time for my offerings to find their place in the world. I counter this challenge with my authenticity. I continue to follow my Path, creating my offerings in the way that is natural for me, and I trust that they will find those that resonate with them. I’ve never been “normal” or like everyone else, and that’s beautiful! I embrace shining my light and inspiring others to do the same.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would spirit our visitor right out of the city and into the forest! Just an hour’s drive west from Denver and you’re on the mountaintop where I live. We would spend the week hiking the myriad of trails, hugging the trees, crouching down to look at the medicinal herbs and wildflowers growing all around us. We would lie on the glacial boulders next to the river and soak up the warm sun, and then take a dip in the cold, clear river. We would cook nourishing meals in my kitchen surrounded by plants, crystals, and jars of herbs, and then roast marshmallows over the fire and stare up at the infinite stars. We would soak in the hot tub and discuss the mysteries of the universe. We would spread out a blanket in the meadow and read our books while the aspen leaves twinkle in the wind. Paradise!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to the divine feminine in all her forms. Mother Earth, in her abundance and limitless beauty, who whispers to me about the plants and their medicine. The Cosmic Mother, the power in all things and in the space between all things, the Love that permeates every molecule and every moment. And the divine spark in every being.
