We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Bray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allison, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned from starting my own business is that you need to lean into the things that scare you. That’s where growth happens and often a great opportunity. If you feel intimidated or nervous about going into a meeting or event, that’s a sign you are in the right place. I try to remind myself of that anytime those feelings come up before something major so I can do it confidently. It takes time to get used to that feeling, but it has always steered me in the right direction.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Post Perfect is a social media marketing firm where we help small businesses thrive online. Social media is a necessity in today’s world and many find it confusing and time-consuming, which it is. However, growing up with the rise of social media and understanding it in a way that some might not, gives me an edge. Social media requires a great amount of media literacy and skill. Not to mention each social media platform has its own tone and requirements. Not many small business owners have time to stay in tune with all these nuances. That’s where Post Perfect steps in. Not only are we saving them money, since hiring a full-time marketing position is expensive, but we take the burden of social media off their backs.

Having a degree in media communications, I understand what attracts an audience. There is not a one-size-fits-all campaign. I take the time to understand each and every company I work with so that I can post as if it were my own, finding the best platforms for them and the best strategy for their needs.

As a small business owner myself, I take pride in any client who trusts me to handle their marketing, and I don’t take that lightly. I have extensive experience in customer service and understand its great importance. That will always be at the forefront of my company.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to show them downtown Castle Rock, especially in the fall or wintertime. It is magical! The lights, the restaurants and all the events that take place. It’s beyond fun. I also love to pop in the shop, ‘The Barn’ it’s one of my favorites!

Then we would go on a walk since there are so many trails in town with amazing views, maybe even go up to the castle rock itself! Then we’d have to stop by The Castle Cafe for lunch for their famous castlewood canyon salad. It’s a must-have item in my opinion.

The next day, we’d have to visit the outlets because who doesn’t love a good shopping day? So many fun shops to go in and they always have something fun going on for kids! Which speaking of kids, we’d then stop by our town’s library for story time! The new library is gorgeous and makes story time so much fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Starting my business when my son was just a baby was a bold and difficult journey but my husband was supportive the entire way through. Being my soundboard and cheerleader from the moment I said I wanted to start my own business.
With his love and support, I’ve been able to take on the necessary time and work it takes to build a brand.

I also found an immense amount of inspiration from Shark Tank and all the sharks on the show. They have so much wisdom, drive and advice that I would write down on post-it notes to help inspire me. Through their show, I found ways to be cost-effective, business-savvy and inspired every single day.
