We had the good fortune of connecting with Connie Eberhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Connie, is there something you believe many others might not?
That one must choose a niche to market to, or specific target market. I realize that this could actually be working “against” my reaching more people, and make my marketing more confusing to people….but I really cannot narrow it down! I do love to serve all humans who have a nervous system! I love working with women (people with vulvas), but so many people who do “hands-on” work do not work with male pelvises. That is such an underserved market! Yet….I still choose not to ONLY work with male pelvises.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say first and foremost, what sets me apart is the fact that my touch modalities include the WHOLE body, meaning the inclusion of the deep pelvis, pleasure and the anatomy of arousal. It is also important to note that when I work with clients, depending on why they have come to see me, this may not at all be a part their unique healing journey. (When people learn what I do, they either lean in…or they may lean away!)
Of my vast array of trainings, most influential has been Sexological Bodywork, STREAM (scar tissue remediation, education and management), and Alchemical Alignment (somatic tools for trauma resolution and the embodiment of spirit) which include deep training in neurobiology and polyvagal theory. In STREAM, we work with the “seen and unseen” aspects of blockages to our flow of vitality and life force, as well as the Four Domains of Health: Biochemical, Biomechanical, Emotional/Existential and Scar Tissue. While I did begin my private apprenticeship with Jaiya back in 2013, I am now also one of 5 original Mentor Trainers in her Erotic Blueprint Breakthrough System. (The Erotic Blueprints are: Energetic, Sensual, Sexual, Kinky and Shapeshifter).
So while there are those practitioners that work with sexuality, often their practice does not include touch. If touch is included, their scope of practice often does not include trauma resolution or neurobiology. Some practitioners do work with pelvises, but they do not include pleasure, and are confined to the western medical model, with limited session time with each client. For those modalities that work with trauma and the nervous system, they rarely include both sexuality AND touch! So, I would say it is very unique that one can work with a practitioner that can combine ALL of these!
I’d say the biggest challenge is censorship and the prevailing and engrained shame that our culture has paired with the relationship to our bodies, to our pleasure, and to our sexuality. And I am up for the challenge!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would find a cute, rustic AirBnb near Rocky Mountains National Park and we would combine both intense hiking with some more casual meandering throughout the area. After that, we will be ready to have a wonderful meal at the Historic Rapids Restaurant in Grand Lakes. Then back to my house in Boulder, so I can show them my local favorite hikes here: Chautauqua, Mt. Sanitas and one I was just introduced to, Bear Peak via Shanahan Ridge. Local places to eat would have to include The Flagstaff House Restaurant, Chautauqua Dining Hall, Dushanbe Teahouse, Leaf and Luciles Creole Cafe. (I think I went overboard on the restaurants, but we will do our best!)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to include both Jaiya and Ellen Heed. In fact, when I first met Jaiya back in 2013, she and Ellen were doing a study together on Women’s Pelvic Health, Post Birth. By 2013, I had been working in the field of intra- and interpersonal development for just over 20 years, as well as having lived and worked with Barbara Marx Hubbard, the “Mother of Conscious Evolution”. Being introduced to Jaiya uniquely and powerfully allowed me to combine all of the aspects of how I had been serving not only people, themselves….but passionately serving a greater purpose/vision of helping them to “re-member” their Core True Selves, while also addressing relational and cultural wounds. As Jaiya used to say back then, “Sex IS YOU!” And Ellen Heed, the creator of STREAM (scar tissue remediation, education and management) also continues to be a significant mentor in my work, working with the “seen and unseen” realms of scar tissue of soma and of psyche.
