We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Mondy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, what do you attribute your success to?
I think that one of the most important factors in the success of my business is that I have had a strong belief in creating a business for the benefit of all. I believe that whenever we do anything, if it is solely selfishly motivated, it turns sour. But when you consider the experience of the client, the investment into the employees, and the established culture of care—all these things benefit not just the bottom line, but the community, and brings a fullness to life. I think that being motivated by others’ wellbeing is the most successful way to run any business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Kindred Hair Co. is my third salon to open. I started the world of salon owning when I was 22, foolish as it was, haha. I believe that throughout my journey from then until now(I am almost 42) I have learned a lot, and much of it the hard way. Hopefully I have learned the valuable things to invest in, and the areas that really are not very important at this point. I see people aa the best investment of time and resource, and so the reason I think Kindred is special is because it’s a place of community in the world post Covid. I think that we all became more withdrawn and hesitant to just hang out and get to know new people after quarantine, and we are really just now recovering from that isolation. I started this little salon to be a space that makes community, and being seen, easier and more accessible. Our space is small, and the conversations we have are special. We approach hair as artists. Each of us creates in a unique and very specialized manner. So, between that community feel and the unique artistry, I believe we have something really special.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city of Castle Rock are definitely LOST coffee–could be a daily visit. Their lattes are divine.
I think that I would do a special dinner at Tribe, their short rib stroganoff is something that I can’t get enough of!
I would definitely take a visitor to hike at Ridgeline open space, and afterwards a brunch at B&B cafe for their banana bread French toast.
The last place that I would need any visitor to try is Uchi, an incredible Sushi spot in downtown Denver. Worth the 45 minute drive for their selection of overnighted fresh fish from Japan. Ive always had incredible experiences there!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my husband, Daniel, who has always been a stable and steady presence. He has always encouraged me to live from my heart and has believed in me, even when I did not believe in myself. The partnership I have with him is priceless.
