Meet Angelitta Alvarez | Piñata maker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelitta Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelitta, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I think as a parent you are the first person to set examples for your child. I believe starting my own business from the ground up and not giving up even tho it may seem overwhelming in the moment is the greatest example I can set for my child. To reach for the stars even if it seems unreachable that if you keep reaching you will eventually get there!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the progress I have made since first making a piñata. Every piñata that I make I learn something new, I learn better ways of bringing my vision to life. I’m excited every time to see what I can create. I like to believe that if you can imagine it I can make it! And it may take a few try’s but if i keep trying i will get there! I love to see when customers come to pick up and their kids fall in love seeing their favorite characters come to life! Starting a small business isn’t easy it takes a lot of time and effort and always putting my best into everything I put out, because everything i put out represents me and my brand! That’s why i strive to put out my best, test different techniques and products to know what is best. I want people to know that Swanky piñatas started in love and every piñata is made with love!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friends to meowwolf to see that cool art exhibits they have in there then to go eat at bao brew house, we would definitely have to take a trip to the Stanley hotel, and maybe even a comedy show at the improv

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my son Saint because of him and wanting to start a small birthday tradition of making him a piñata for his birthday turned in to a whole business of me making piñatas for other kid birthdays too! And my boyfriend for pushing me to pursue and always giving me the best advice and believing in me . My family and friends that all send recommendations and support my small business.
