We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, how does your business help the community?
Sacred Womb Therapeutics was founded with the mission to empower the Women of Color (WOC) community through healing practices rooted in Mexican Traditional Medicina. My services, including Sobada De Matriz (womb massage), prenatal and postpartum massage, yoni steaming, and womb yoga, offer women of color a path to reconnect with their bodies and cultivate a deeper connection to their womb.
Through education and nurturing practices, I address common womb-related issues such as irregular menstrual cycles, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility challenges, gut issues, and more. In Mexican Traditional Medicina, these physical manifestations are understood as expressions of emotional trauma or energetic blockages within the womb space, deeply impacting our overall well-being. By focusing on both physical and emotional healing, we create balance and unlock our fullest potential. With this in mind, I strive to provide a safe, supportive space for clients to explore and release these blockages, guiding them in deeply caring for their womb and empowering them on their self-care journey to holistic healing. My goal is to make a meaningful impact on individual lives and inspire a ripple effect of healing, awareness, and empowerment within the WOC community and beyond.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is my own womb healing journey—a path shaped by profound experiences. From the sudden loss of my first love in a car accident, to a period where I gave up on love and the dream of having children, to making the heartbreaking decision to end a pregnancy, and finally, finding the love of my life but now facing the challenge of conceiving. My journey is grounded in a genuine ability to connect with others and understand their pain, having faced heartbreak and experienced depression myself. This empathy shapes the work I do at Sacred Womb Therapeutics, where I aim to create a safe, supportive space for women to heal and grow.
I am most excited about shaping the future of womb care and envisioning a world where women embrace womb wellness from an early age, even before their very first bleed. Supporting this proactive approach to self-care not only gives women a deeper understanding of their bodies, but also empowers them to make informed, intentional choices for their bodies and health. This foundation builds confidence and gives women the ability to advocate for their well-being at every stage of life.
My journey here definitely hasn’t been easy—it’s taken years of learning, discipline, patience, and self-belief. There are times when I question my abilities, but the support of my family, friends, and mentors helps me push forward. A huge lesson has been to stay grounded in my “why”: my purpose to create healing spaces where women feel seen, heard, supported, and connected.
I’m incredibly proud to offer something unique that’s inspired by my cultural roots and serves a real need. Sacred Womb Therapeutics goes beyond wellness; it’s about reclaiming health and knowledge, breaking generational cycles, and empowering women to give their womb a voice. I want the world to know that our bodies hold wisdom and that there’s so much power in connecting with our womb through traditional practices. Sacred Womb Therapeutics is here to remind us of that truth and to support healing and connection in all stages of life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so much to see and do here that it’s hard to know where to start!
Depending on the season, we could catch a baseball game at Coors Field or a hockey game at Ball Arena.
For breakfast or brunch, I’d take them to one of my favorite spots – Doppio, Onefold, or Fox Run. For dinner, we can’t miss Walters303, my go-to spot for amazing pizza and wings!
The next day, we’d definitely venture into the mountains to unwind in a natural hot springs after a hike.
The Denver Botanic Gardens are always nice to visit and a great place to walk and talk.
If it’s a weekend night, we’d swing by Run for the Roses in Dairy Block for a cocktail and some deviled eggs (YUM!) before ending the night dancing at Ghost Donkey!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to everyone who has supported and uplifted me on this journey. My deepest gratitude goes to my grandmother, mother, brother, sister, and, above all, my husband, Alfonso Perez, who is by my side every single day and witnesses my day-to-day experiences. Alfonso is my greatest supporter, always believing in me and lifting me up, especially on the days when I really struggle to believe in myself.
I also want to honor my incredible amigas in Denver—Marcela Rodriguez, Claudia Huerta, Jamie Pittman (Citrine Salon), Jess Daher (Rooted & Aligned), Marylou Bustillos Rico, Vivian Perez (Magia Botanica), Victoria Garcia (Latina Owned Collective), Rosario Torres, Sasha Reeves, Katri N., Wendy Davies, Dr. Seher (Embodied Healing PT), Diana (Dee) Chairez, JQ Williams Bena, Anny Sundara (Sundara Photography), Jessica Lissette, Irene Lasso (Luminous Spaces), Julie Monday (Monday Coaching), Bridgitte (Butterfly Beauty), and last but not least, Sam Ramey (Art of Touch Denver).
A special thank you to my teachers, whose wisdom has been foundational: Rachel Nystrom, Kino MacGregor, R. Sharath Jois, Sharon Kapp, Ashley Solis, Dr. Jon Pyndus, and Pānquetzani.
Finally, I’d like to recognize the powerful books that have shaped my practice and philosophy, including Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler, Real Food for Fertility and Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols, and Thriving Postpartum by Pānquetzani.
