We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Molly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I decided to open my own studio because, throughout my experience working in various shops, I often noticed areas where things could be improved—whether it was the client experience or the overall environment. I had a vision for a studio that focused on fostering a welcoming and supportive energy, both for artists and clients. When I realized that this ideal space wasn’t something I could easily find, I decided to create it myself. It was important to me to build a studio that aligned with my values.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart as a tattoo artist is the personal responsibility I take for every piece I create. It’s a delicate balance—staying true to my artistic expression while also hearing my clients requests and guiding them on what will look best. It’s about ensuring the artwork represents both my vision and my client’s needs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to wild pastures for burgers and fries. We would likely go skiing (somewhere on the Ikon pass). And because of the time of year, I bet we would spend a good chunk of time in the evenings watching shows, cooking and having some good “yap” time at home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Along the way, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have amazing support from people who believed in me. My best friend Savannah, for example, has been my number one hype woman—always cheering me on and reminding me that I’m capable of achieving what I set out to do. Her encouragement has been invaluable as I’ve grown my business.
