We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Pachuca and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
My family is from Denver, Colorado and we have been here for generations. My dads family is Hispanic and loves throwing huge and fun parties. My grandmother (“Dude” is what I call her), threw amazing gatherings when I was growing up. Everything was a reason for a celebration and I loved every tiny detail she put into them. It’s one of the highlights of my childhood and inspires the parties I plan to this day. I love gathering friends and family and creating a fun and loving space for them to enjoy each others company, laugh and eat good food.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started VIVA! Event Planning Co. in July 2024 with the intention of bringing true hospitality back to the industry. We take pride in being personable, maintaining a can-do attitude, and not just offering a service, but an experience. I started out marketing myself through Facebook groups for brides, got a few last minute weddings for 2024 and got an incredible response from my clients. Part of my background is growing up in a church where caring for people is the first priority. I didn’t realize this was so scarce until hearing from other vendors and clients that this was a huge deal. I truly love caring and serving others, so that passion comes through very evident in my work. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and care. Because of this, my work to this point has come very easily. One thing I’ve learned from my family of entrepreneurs is to hire others for the things you aren’t good at. This tactic has saved me a lot of time and headaches! I want the world to know that I am a business owner who truly cares for the people I work for. This isn’t just about supporting my family, but about giving my clients the special treatment they deserve for such a huge event!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was visiting I love being in Boulder, CO. I would definitely grab sushi from Hapa and head out to Chautauqua Park for dinner under the stars. I’m also a mom, so finding cool places to take our kids like the WOW! Children’s Museum is a must!
One of the coolest spaces I’ve had the pleasure to work at but never attend is Nora’s Speakeasy inside The Simon Event Center in Louisville. It’s got the most beautiful, intimate atmosphere and the owners are so kind. Other noteworthy mentions are places like Red Rocks for a concert or movie or Rosita’s Mexican restaurant in Westminster. My family has been eating there for decades and it is so underrated!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this article to my incredible husband, Bruno. The hidden sacrifices he has made to help make this dream of mine a reality is a sacrifice I know few people willing to make. He never brags about giving the things up that he has for me, but they’re there. The long nights with our two little girls, giving up time we usually spent together, changing his work life dynamic. He is always selfless, loving, thoughtful and I don’t know how I got to be so blessed to have him as my life partner. I also wanted to recognize my inspiration, my late grandfather, Samuel “Honey” Abeyta Sr. He grew his own business from nothing into a multimillion dollar company. I observed him show extreme generosity, work harder than he ever asked anyone else to, built relationships like I’ve never seen anyone else and break barriers for Latino business owners of his time. I think of him every day, wishing I could pick his brain on my own business now. I know if he was here today he would be so incredibly proud of me.
