We had the good fortune of connecting with Lana Kuznetsova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being a Business Owner is not as glamorous as it seems, or at least not what I initially envisioned. However, even if I knew then what I know now – I would still make the same choice.
I’ve had typical jobs, but no matter how hard I worked and how much I put into the company, they paid me for the “position” I filled and not for “my efforts”. I realized that no matter how many great ideas I had for the company to run smoother and more efficiently, no one cared, and I’d still be paid the same if I showed up with less enthusiasm and eagerness. That’s where the idea of putting all this effort towards my own Business and dreams came into the picture.
My Dad had funny sayings for any life situation, and when it comes to a corporate job, he said: ” You can’t jump higher than you hear, and you can’t sit lower than your butt” – with your own Business, you can do anything your imagination and efforts can handle.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Being our own Boss is glamorous, but not many people think that you would have to be your own employee. In the beginning work 24/7 to build a good foundation for your business and potential growth, and have to all of that for minimum to no pay. Business owners have a mindset. I saw the stigma around Real Estate Agents and how easy it is to get into the industry, but I also discovered that only 2 out of 10 agents that enter the industry will stay for the first 2 years, and only 1 will make it to year 5. Those are some brutal odds. Yes, there are a lot of Real Estate Agents out there, but only very few good ones who work for people and not just for commission checks, Agents who genuinely understand how to help people with the right investment and how to leverage the market to help their clients to get ahead. I was able to advise a younger couple about their financial security. They came to me in their early 20s and shared their dream with me to own a few rentals, have a stable, independent income, have a family and financial freedom, and we’ve managed to put together a plan. Now they are in their 30s and live in a million-dollar home with a kid and have several rentals. This allowed them to do what they love in life, and work because they like it, not because they have to. Investment in Real Estate allowed them to do it.
Several similar situations made me want to help as many AGENTS as I can – so they can help as many families as they can. I dedicated my career to help Real Estate Agent to learn the right way to handle this business, the perfect approach to make sure their clients are taken care of and people have a Real Estate Advisor for life. My Real Estate Team has highly educated Real Estate Brokers and my Real Estate Coaching Company will be able to help Real Estate Agents become stable and reliable Business Owners.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Very fun question – Very recently, a friend from Canada visited me and it was a very eventful week. During the week, we went to the Auraria Highlands Area to see the Umi statue and other fun art there, hikes in the evenings, and since Denver is such a foodie city, it was easy to find a spot every evening Rino – the Woods, Downtown – 52thirty, LoHi – Avanti. We even visited Little Man Ice Cream place – unique. The weekend started with a Tour of Red Rocks (and I think it was one of his favorite spots) we had to visit Casa Bonita, and the evening brought us to more Rooftop bars and walks in Downtown Denver.
We looked for hot springs (*needed to reserve in advance, tho) and endless scenery stops as we drove around.
There is just so much!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In 2008, Brandon Rossell (my business partner now) told me that Real Estate is a great place to be. Little did we know that 2008 would turn into a severe economic recession in US. Ignorance is bliss in this case. He got his Real Estate License, and that year turned out to be a very hard year. We kept on going, and no matter how much I wanted to find a “Real Job,” I kept coming back to helping Brandon with Real Estate. I saw his passion and how much he helped new home buyers or cared about finding his clients “forever homes.” It was absolutely moving. That’s when I fell in love with the idea of being a real estate agent and helping him serve as many clients as possible.
