We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassidy & Brenda Mealhow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassidy & Brenda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We are all about family and spending time with one another so we thought what better way then to start a business together! We also have a passion for fashion, and wanted everyone no matter what your style or size is, to be able to enjoy and embrace it just as much as we do! That’s when we came up with our slogan, “We were raised on Grits, Gravy & God! A boutique with southern flare & family owned by some hip chicks. How does one raise three ornery girls with a bronc riding husband? I have no idea, but MAMA TRIED!”
What should our readers know about your business?
We started out in 2019 and had a storefront in downtown Castle Rock, and unfortunately due to COVID-19 we closed our store front down in April of 2020. Since then we have moved mostly online. It was challenging especially since we loved getting to interact with all our customers, and took pride in making their shopping experience personal. We also love doing pop-up boutique events like farmers markets, and craft shows for example. We hope that soon things can go back to a new normal and we will be able to get back to in person events. In the meantime we have had a lot of fun learning how to virtually interact with our friends and customers by using platforms like Facebook live, Instagram, and TikTok. This has definitely been different for us but we are always up for a challenge! Its our hope that we can continue to bring unique and authentic styles to all of our customers. We pride ourselves in finding local artisans and apparel/accessory companies that want to make everyone feel sassy and confident so they can express themselves without breaking their bank!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would most definitely take our bestie to downtown Castle Rock. The town has done a great job in keeping Castle Rocks small town vibe while incorporating new swanky restaurants/bars and promoting local small businesses. Not to mention the view is stunning, and its home to a mini incline, and multiple parks and outdoor activities. There is something for everyone in Castle Rock!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to shoutout all our friends, family, and customers who have continued to support and love us and what we stand for during these crazy times. We are so thankful, and feel beyond blessed to have such a great support system!
