Meet Stephanie Terry | Laura Doyle Relationship Coach & Freeride Ski Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Want to hear a funny joke? Work life balance. Ha! In the bad old days I had no clue how to balance work, kids, the mortgage, date nights and yada yada. I had a plethora of planners and cute journals with great ideas but nothing stuck for me. My vision was to have it all and I thought that meant I had to DO it all. Be a money making machine, a happy wife, an adventure mom of twins and the list goes on. It’s like I was chasing the great white buffalo, or in my case, balance. It felt unattainable. Queue the burnout!
Instead of pretending to be superwoman, nowadays I simply check in with myself every morning and honor my limits. I avoid any burnout and resentment because I know what I’m capable of from day to day. I’m also aware of the cost of overextending myself; I show up frantic and snappy. I took charge of what I can control: my priorities, my limits, my energy, my happiness, and my value. I stopped wasting time on all things I can’t control. Life got a whole lot simpler.
BONUS: Since changing my mindset of doing it all to honoring my limits, I have gone on more family vacations than ever (even internationally), I’m coaching my kids Freeride Ski Team, I’m attracting clients organically, I’m collaborating with entrepreneurs (no need to do it all on my own) and my husband can’t resist me. Instead of striving for balance I am moving in harmony with my work and life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Two Rivers Relationship Coaching works solely with women to transform their marriages. It only takes one person to change the dance and elicit a different response from her partner. I transformed my marriage using The Six Intimacy Skills™, no husband participation necessary or painful couple’s therapy.
Along with coaching clients privately online, I recently launched The Skilled Squad. A private WhatsApp community of clients that can interact/support/share ideas with each other. Group coaching coming soon as well! I am ecstatic to reach more women and provide a village at Two Rivers Relationship Coaching.
My journey is still going, and yes, it’s been bumpy at times. After certification I was ready to get after it! However, I was quickly humbled by the amount of work and patience it takes to start a business.
Steps I took to overcome my fear and doubt:
1. Relinquish control of being perfect.
2. Be brave, be vulnerable and ask for help.
3. Throw my defensiveness out the window and choose to receive from others. They are actually standing for my greatness!
4. Attract clients by telling my story authentically. Comeback stories tend to inspire hope. If I can do it, so you can you.
5. When it all feels hard, remember why I started. And maybe get a milkshake too.
If you’re curious about a refreshingly different approach to transforming your marriage, reach out for a free discovery call. Why wait?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Fork, CO is not a flashy city, but it is the gateway to incredible advenure. If I could wave a magic wand and create the most kick ass week long trip for my bestie to visit… this is what we’d get after:
First Half: Winter
1. Ski at the privately owned Wolf Creek Ski Area. No frills here, just true blue people and the deepest snow in Colorado.
2. Apre at Three Barrel Brewing Co with wood-fired pizza, root beer/mircrobrews
3. Full moon cross country ski at Big Meadows Reservoir
4. Swim at the Hooper Hot Springs at the Sand Dunes Recreational Pool (picture of my daughter)
Second Half: Summer
1. Mountain Bike at Penitente Canyon in Del Norte, CO
2. Sand board and fly kites at Sand Dunes National Park (1 hr away) when Medano Creek is running. This is magical!
3. Head to the courtyard of The Windsor Restaurant/Hotel where we can eat like Queens and dance to live music.
4. Float the Rio Grande River and fly fish gold medal trout water. Stop at Kips restaurant up in Creede for yummy shrimp tacos.
5. Picnic and Surf the playwave on the Rio Grande River in Del Norte. Reapply suncreen, we’re over 8,000 ft in elevation!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In 2018 I read the book The Empowered Wife, by Laura Doyle. Oh my goodness, I felt so BUSTED! For years I had been blaming my husband for our chilly marriage. Turns out I played a significant role in the roommate vibe going on in our ranch-style home.
This book gave me hope and practical tools to transform my marriage and ultimately take responsibilty for my happiness. I found support in Laura Doyle’s Adored Wife Challenges and The Empowered Wife podcast. What a gift to have women high-fiving me on my journey to make my marriage sparkle again. I thought I had this unicorn situtaion that no one could relate to, turns out I just had to find my people.
Big shoutout to my dreamboat husband. We’ve been together over 20 years and you still give me the butterflies.
