Meet Fatima Stansell | Teacher & Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fatima Stansell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fatima, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was rooted in my passion for making a meaningful impact in my community. I wanted to create something that aligned with my values and allowed me to address issues I care deeply about, like literacy, diversity, and inclusion.
The thought process began with identifying a need—bridging the literacy gap and providing opportunities for underserved communities. From there, I thought about how I could use my skills, experiences, and platform to address that need. I wanted to build something that was more than just a business—it’s a movement, a way to empower others and leave a lasting legacy.
Ultimately, it came down to having the courage to take a leap of faith and turn my vision into reality. Knowing the potential to create change fueled me every step of the way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career is rooted in my passion for education, diversity, and inclusion. As a kindergarten teacher and advocate for literacy, I’m dedicated to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning in children, especially in underserved communities. What sets me apart is my commitment to bridging the literacy gap, creating inclusive spaces, and empowering students to see themselves as leaders and lifelong learners.
One of my proudest accomplishments is being crowned Ms. Black Colorado USA 2025. This title represents more than a crown—it’s a platform to raise awareness about literacy and community initiatives while celebrating Black excellence.
My journey to this point hasn’t been easy. As a Black woman in education, I’ve faced challenges such as advocating for equitable resources and navigating systemic barriers. However, these obstacles fueled my determination to keep pushing forward. I’ve learned the value of resilience, mentorship, and surrounding myself with people who believe in my vision.
I want the world to know that my story is one of perseverance, passion, and purpose. Through my brand and platform, I aim to make an impact that extends beyond the classroom. I want to inspire others to invest in education, support literacy initiatives, and embrace diversity as a strength. My goal is to leave a legacy of empowered students and communities that thrive because they were given the tools to succeed.
