We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Easterling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allison, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency and connection, hands down. Consistency in the product, in work ethic, in client experience, in showing up, even when you don’t want to. Consistency over time builds trust. Sometimes that means it’s a slow build, and that’s okay. But when you are consistent people follow, and more importantly, your ideal clients find you.

And connection. People know when you are in it for them, when you care about their experience and their outcome. Connecting and staying connected with brides and couples even after their wedding days has been one of the biggest gifts of this business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a wedding photographer. My career now spans 15 years, which is mind blowing to me. I’d be lying if I said it was easy. When you own your own business, there are a lot of sleepless nights. Wondering if you’re making the right decisions, if you’re moving in the right direction.

But again, I think it all goes back to being consistent, even when it’s scary. There were many times people told me to get a “real” job doing something I loved. And I remember saying, this is what I love. And I held steady. And that consistency and steadiness continues to pay off.

I think with any business, what sets mine apart from others is me. Each of us are so unique and different, and we all see the world differently, interact with each other differently. When you choose to book with me, you’re getting my unique style and take on your wedding day, the attention to details, the happiness, and the joy of your day. You’re getting someone who cares so much for you and is genuinely invested in not only your wedding day, but your life going forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Colorado Springs, and although it’s known for its outdoor beauty, national parks, etc. everyone that knows me knows I’m a bit more of an indoor, city girl. So, you’ll find me a lot of times spending my days in Denver, shopping, photographing in the downtown area, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every single one of my clients. They have followed me, championed me, and continued to hire me throughout the years. I wouldn’t be here still if it wasn’t for them. No one ever tells you of the magic that is when you start a wedding photography business all of those years ago, and then those couples come back to you year after year, and then they start bringing their families for you to photograph. It’s one of the most special things about this job, and I never take that for granted.
