We had the good fortune of connecting with Max Resnik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Max, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since I was a kid, I was always involved in sports. I was around golf as a little kid, picked up soccer, tried tennis, dabbled in basketball, devoted myself to baseball for a few years, and even swam along the way. All of this was done while skiing, and surfing whenever possible. However, as I grew through high school, I realized I no longer had time for all of these sports. As my time became scarce, the three sports I played in my freshman and sophomore year (baseball, basketball, and golf) became just golf, as I ranked my preferences and chose my favorite. This gave me time to focus on my plans after high school, my homework, and, my personal favorite, my photography business. I knew that through my experience playing these sports, I could provide a different perspective from the other side of the game and showcase the joy of sports that I felt and still feel to this day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to think that my photos showcase the action, but also the teamwork of sports. The chemistry you build with your teammates contributes to the overall team talent just as much as individual talent, and showcasing that in my photos gives me an opportunity to show a different side of the game. I’m most excited about the opportunities and games I get to watch while taking pictures, especially in 6A boys basketball, every game is close and exciting to watch, and I get to be front row while capturing the most important parts. It was definitely not easy to get where I am, but it wasn’t impossible. Other photographers gave me great tips once I reached out and asked, and they sped up my progress immensely. I want the world to know that taking that first jump into something new is necessary. Especially in an industry like photography, it can be super intimidating, but you have to make that jump. There’s so much opportunity for everyone that loves taking photos, not just sports photography. You can shoot landscapes, people, weddings, parties, concerts, basically anything. Find what you like, run with it, and don’t look back. You’ll have so much fun along the way. I’ll always be around to give tips to people, because I want everyone to be able to have fun with their camera like I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver is perfect for visitors, as it’s right in the middle of everything. Obviously, since I’m still in high school, my options become slightly limited, but there’s still tons of stuff to do. A trip to Red Rocks is necessary as, in my opinion, it’s one of the most interesting music venues in the country, and there’s so much history that goes along with the stunning atmosphere. Colorado’s known for its skiing, so we’re definitely going up to the mountains for a couple nights, I’m thinking Vail if it’s a weekday, or Beaver Creek if it’s a weekend, but you can’t go wrong with any of the mountains, they’re all great. We’re gonna catch a Nuggets game so that you can get a glimpse of the soon-to-be 3-time MVP, and explore downtown while we’re at it. There’s hidden gems all over Denver, one of my favorites being Blue Pan Pizza, a place that serves Detroit-style pizza in an awesome atmosphere. The rest of the days will be spent finding those hidden gems.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family 100% deserves the shoutout. My parents have made so many sacrifices for my family and they deserve all the credit. I know my family will always support me no matter what I do, and knowing that I have that support system in my corner makes all the difference.
