Meet Jordan Lucky | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Lucky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from Longmont, Colorado. I think there is a unique thing about Colorado that really helps with me being a tattoo artist in this state. Even growing up here people have always been very progressive to new ideas, health and overall personality. People are genuine here and tend to be on the nicer side of interactions. It’s interesting when I travel to more southern states and interact with people there and see how unaccepting or uncomfortable they are with face tattoos or just tattoos in general. Theres a vibe here that encourages people to be unique and that’s huge if I am going to be doing artwork on people for the rest of my life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The thing that is the most exciting about being able to do tattoos full time is when projects become complete. When you get to see the client so happy and proud to get through the process and trust my ideas and watch it all come to life. It’s not always easy, sometimes the clients don’t have an artistic mind, and it takes a lot of customer service type skills to be able to communicate your ideas to them in a way that will make sense to them. It teaches me things about myself that I didn’t even know I needed to learn sometimes. I also teaches me to be more open and honest about my opinions as an artist as well. It’s really all so magical at the end of the day. As cheesy as that might sound to call it magic, there is a cool thing the universe does for you when you believe in your vision. If I want the world to know one thing about me, it would have to be that idea as a whole. I feel everyone is super special in their own way, and we can have that cool fun type of communication when you get to work with me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Growing up in Colorado one of my favorite things to do would have to be going to Denver. Denver is special for so many reasons. I’d have to take them to the 16th street mall, catch a comedy show, walk around and find some local graffiti work in the alleys, or the many walls that have been done. Denver is always hosting so many fun art events during the summer months. You can catch artists selling their own creations or go over to the art district and look at all the many murals around that area. Then I’d have to tell them to go visit FasioNation, one of the coolest punk rock / rockabilly stores I have ever been to, and has the best and sweetest welcoming owners ever. They are amazing! Maybe do some thrifting or hit up music venue like the Marquis to see some local music. Denver rocks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t know if I can pin point any one person or group with this question. I’d have to give it out to just all the creative tattoo artists, animators, musicians, comedians, graffiti artists and anyone else out there creating things or products for themselves just out of the love of creating. Post Covid times now, it was great to see all the musicians that came out of “retirement” to tour again, or to watch other artists post more about their stories on social media or on podcasts, and being vulnerable about their insecurities or being open about themselves being confident in their work. You really can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. At the same time, it takes hours of hard work and dedication to work through all the bad times to really bring yourself to work everyday no matter how you’re feeling that day. So shout out to everyone out there doing everyday and staying true to their goals.
