Meet Larissa Guedea | Esthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Larissa Guedea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Larissa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My first love was makeup, that’s how I got involved in the beauty community. I used to do wedding makeup for a years, but during my time working at salon’s and spa’s in college, my love for skin grew.
I knew I wanted to stay in the industry, but I wanted to help those address and correct their skin concerns instead of covering it up.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I had many mentors during my journey of becoming an esthetician, and so much support to follow my dream career.
Through my work experience as a receptionist, I learned so many different styles, techniques, products and services just by observing and of course receiving treatments!
I owe my success to the owners of Skin Deep Spa, Mariquita & Beth, who took a chance on a green esthetician and guided me to where I am today.
I’ve been licensed for almost 3 years, and it’s not common for someone fresh out of school to have an opportunity like I did to work for such a successful business.
It was not easy, but I’ve had years of sales under my belt that really helped me get out of my comfort zone. Talking to people? That was easy, I love getting to know my clients personally and professionally, building these beautiful relationships that turn into friendships.
Lessons I’ve learned is always be true to yourself, people want to work with you because they feel a connection to your character. Set boundaries; the power of touch is incredible but can be draining also, find your focus and be grounded. Don’t take your work home, making changes for your lifestyles and professional life are important.
What sets me apart? I consider myself an acne specialist. I personally struggled for years, especially during Covid, and I think it’s important for others to know I understand the struggles, low self-esteem and frustration. I love to create treatment plans and at-home care, building that trust is crucial when working on specific skin concerns and patience.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
