Meet Emma Wooters | Freelance Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Wooters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because I have always been drawn to storytelling through visuals. Photography allows me to capture moments, emotions, and stories that words may not always be able to express. I aim to capture the authenticity of each moment and focus on engagement photography because there is truly something special about documenting those in-between moments–the laughter, the stolen glances, or the excitement of a new chapter. To me, photography is more than taking pictures; it’s about making memories and preserving emotions, and that’s why I love what I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently wrapping up my final semester at CU Boulder, and I am looking forward to graduating and exploring new opportunities. After transferring schools twice, I finally found my home in Boulder, Colorado, and while the journey wasn’t what I originally expected, I use it to remind myself that wherever we are right now is exactly where we are meant to be. This mindset has shaped not only my personal life, but also my photography, as I strive to capture authentic moments that remind us to embrace our stories.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite scenic spots in Boulder are Eldorado Canyon Overlook and Lost Gulch Overlook. I often drive to both to watch the sunset or to clear my head, and I take everyone who visits to one or both of these spots to enjoy the views. As the first restaurant I visited when I moved to Boulder, Roadhouse Boulder Depot has become my favorite place to eat and share with my friends and family. On the weekends, Pearl Street is the place to be to explore local businesses and see street performers. And of course, grabbing a rooftop drink at Avanti is a must-do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has always been incredibly supportive of my passions and creativity. From giving me my first camera when I was 11 to promoting my pages, their love and encouragement have given me the confidence to pursue photography wholeheartedly. I would not be as consistent or as passionate without them.
I am also deeply grateful for my friends–their unwavering support, the inspiration they bring me, and their encouragement to explore new ideas. Engagement photography, to me, is about capturing love in its purest form, and I am very lucky to be surrounded by people who remind me of that every day.
