We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Buffum Entrepreneur and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allison Buffum, how do you think about risk?
To me, risk-taking is an essential part of growth and innovation, especially in the context of entrepreneurship and creation. While everything may feel daunting or uncertain, embracing risk allows for new opportunities and progress. The key is to trust yourself and your vision so deeply that the potential downsides seem small in comparison to the rewards. Having that confidence sets you apart and empowers you to push through fear and doubt, ultimately helping you turn your ideas into reality.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what sets me apart is my relentless drive and willingness to embrace every challenge that comes my way. My journey has never been easy, but it’s these obstacles that have shaped me into the person I am today. From my first kitchen job at 16, starting as a prep cook and working my way up, to becoming an entrepreneur, every experience has taught me the importance of hard work, patience, and perseverance. I’m most proud of the resilience I’ve built along the way—the ability to keep going, even when the road gets tough. Business-wise, I’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding failure but about learning from it and adapting. The hardest part has often been trusting in myself when things seemed uncertain, but I’ve come to realize that believing in my vision, even when others doubted, was key to moving forward. I want the world to know that my brand isn’t just about what I create; it’s a reflection of my journey, my passion, and the dedication I’ve poured into every step of the process. It’s a testament to the idea that no matter where you start, with grit and belief in yourself, you can achieve your goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Summit County for a week-long trip, I’d make sure we had the best time by mixing outdoor adventure, good food, and some relaxation in the mix! We’d start our mornings with a cozy brunch at La Francaise French Bakery—a local favorite with the best pastries! After that, we’d head straight for Mt. Royal for a hike, where we’d enjoy stunning panoramic views of the mountains and get a good workout in.
For the afternoon, I’d take them to Dillon Marina, where we’d grab a frozen cocktail at the Tiki Bar to cool off and relax by the water. After chilling out a bit, we’d hop onto a pontoon boat to cruise around Lake Dillon, soaking in the views and watching the sunset—it’s an absolute must for that perfect mountain-lake vibe.
In the evenings, we’d hit up some of the best local spots like Rootstalk for a true culinary experience and Syndicate Brewing for live music, and craft beers.
Summit County really does have it all, from stunning natural beauty to delicious food and drinks, and I’d want to make sure my friend experienced a little bit of everything during their stay!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my success to the people and experiences that have shaped me along the way. From my first job at 16, where I learned the value of hard work and dedication, to the mentors who guided me through every role in the kitchen, each step has contributed to the person I am today. I am also deeply grateful for the unconditional support of my family, who has always believed in my vision. Their encouragement and the lessons I’ve learned through every job and relationship have been instrumental in my journey as an entrepreneur.
